Summary: Tithe, How I love it.
Review: It was so good to be able to breathe, Kaye thought. She loved the serene brutality of the ocean, loved the electric power she felt with each breathe of wet, briny air. She spun again, dizzily, not caring that her skirt was flying up over the tops of her black thigh-high stockings.
"Come on ," Janet called..."your going to fall"

Tithe is about a girl named Kaye whose mom is in rock band until one of the members gets drunk and arrested. Then she and her mom have to move in with Kaye's grandmother. While there she hangs out with her friend Janet who takes her to a bar to meet her boyfriend and one of their old classmates. Kaye goes down to the basement and then the trouble starts. Janet's boyfriend sees her making a stuffed nonliving horse move. She didn't even realize it was moving. Then all he can think about is Kaye and starts calling her constantly.

Holly Black has written a series called the spiderwick chronicles. It is a fiction series that I'm sure is great but have not read. Tithe is the only other book she has written. She spent her early years in a decaying Victorian mansion where her mother fed her a steady diet of ghost stories and faerie tales. An avid collector of rare folklore volumes, spooky dolls, and crazy hats, she lives in West Long Branch, New Jersey.
