Rating: Summary: You don't have to like Britney to like this book! Review: I'm not a big fan of Britney, but I'm a big fan of music, so I guess that's why I decided to read this book. I could really relate to the 14-year-old girl, Holly. Her character was really in depth, and the book kept you interested 24/7. I think this book is very realistic, beacause they're are many girls out there who think they're too poor, or not pretty enough to make their dreams come true (in this case, Holly can barely afford to go to Haverty Music School) and this book just shows how if you have confidence and believe in yourself, then anything can happen. I really liked this book, and I recommend it to anyone who's a fan of music, you don't have to like Britney to enjoy this book.
Rating: Summary: It's not really all that bad. Review: A Mother's Gift is not all that bad. Sure its sugar coated and everything but the book was written for younger children. Anyone older than 12 or 13 should be reading a more advanced book. It's too bad people have to critize a book so bad because its out of their reading level. Grow up! I think to a certain level some readers can relate to things in the story. Like how many of us have ever felt lower-class because our family doesn't make as much as others? And how many of us have ever been embaressed by our parents? And how many of us have ever had a dream? If this is sugar coated and bad then we must all be in trouble.
Rating: Summary: Oh, please. Review: I really love the "subtle" way they plastered a picture of her on the cover. Really. All in all, the book was a disappointment. I figured if they were going to write a book, it'd have to be decent to make sure they didn't end up making Britney look dumb, right? Wrong. It's unrealistic, hard - no, impossible - to relate to, overly sweet, and in short, not worth the money. At all. If you love Britney, knock yourself out, you'd love it even if it was crap (which it is). For the rest of us, spare yourselves.
Rating: Summary: SOME PEOPLE ARE JUST A LITTLE TOO JUDGEMENTAL!!!! Review: A book actually worth reading. The book was fairly good from the start, and I truly liked it. Sure, it breaks some of the rules of writing. So what! But if you are going to judge this book based on who wrote it, and that fact alone, then that's your problem. The book in itself is about Holly Faye Lovell, a fourteen-year-old living in Biscay, Mississippi. Holly and her mother don't have much money, and even though Holly wants to go to Haverty, the Performing Arts school, she shoves the thought of it in the back of her mind. Her boyfriend, Tyler, records her singing, and sends it to Haverty. Holly is then asked to audition, and later makes it into the school. Her roomate is a rich girl named Ditz, who Holly helps out in the end. I won't give away the ending. But read it for yourself, regardless of who wrote it. Candace
Rating: Summary: Not recommended. Review: I think Britney should stick to singing. If you're a britney fan I'm sure you'll love it simply because it partly by her, but if not I wouldn't bother. This is simply not a very good book. It's too saccarine and sweet and not realistic at all.
Rating: Summary: Blergh... Review: Quite honestly, I didn't even get through half the book. It was so badly written, I wanted to cry. It was completely pointless and almost painfuly unrealistc. Poor little Britney. She can't sing and she can't write. Someone should really ...
Rating: Summary: Egads no! Review: This kind of book makes writers like me want to throw our pens away. Britney Spears and her mother are writing a book, see the cheese drip off the table. Why should we work feverishly on developing characters, twisting plots, creating twists, when she is taking the book deals? The publication companies have hit a new low, apparently they consider dancing in tight pants while lip synching equals writing talent. What's next, Justin Timberlake? Oh yes, he DOES have a book deal! Please do not buy this book, don't give Britt another million dollars to throw on the pile. They can't write songs, what makes you think they could write a novel?
Rating: Summary: What can I say...? Review: I'm a Britney fan, not a big one but still a fan. And I admit that I brought the book because she was the author, not because of the plot or anything. It's very unusally for me to read anything that was not Stephen King or Christopher Pike. What did I expect? Nothing really that great. I gritted my teeth as I spent that 15 dollars. To tell you the truth - I didn't really want to. But I did want to see what kind of writing it was. I was surprised - the plot wasn't great. It wasn't that original, but I didn't expect a legend. But it was good writing. I like the way she writes, but I had to re-read some of the sentances to understand them. I read somehwhere that this book for orginally for 8-12 year olds. 12, yes, not 8. Anyways, I liked it. It's not going to be my all time favorite from now on, but I liked it.
Rating: Summary: A joke. Review: I honestly can say that I intended to buy this book for my mother this coming mother's day. I don't really care who the 'author' was, I just wanted a nice book to put in a basket with some other gifts. I bought it and read it first. Please. I am a sincere person, and I simply cannot believe that the publisher thinks this book is good quality. Without the name Britney Spears it would be sitting on the discount rack, if it was ever published at all. A silly story with no heart or guts. Painfully written, I hope that Brit and her mother either get out of the writing business or take a few high school writing courses. Please, do not waste your money.
Rating: Summary: Britney did it again!! Review: I loved "A Mother's Touch." I'm not usually one to read but I had this finished within the day! It shows you that you should always respect your mother because you never know if there's a secret about your life as in this story. It just made me appreciate my mom even more as I thought back to all the times she's given up something she really needed just make me happy. ....
