Rating: Summary: A good Book Review: I'm going to amit it I bought the book because of Britney Spears. First it felt like her mom Lynne wrote the hole thing. And them you could tell Brintey worte a lot to! This is book is veary good. It's about a teen who live in a small town. Her mom dose not have a lot of money so she can't send holly to collage. But she loves to sing. But she gets a scolership.. She has a roomate name ditz, who has promblems. she stays out late and drinks, Ditz is veary rich tho. Trowd the end of the book the was a part that was veary sad. It almost made me cry. So for the frist ten pages were boring, britney and her mom are veary good togther and should write more books toghther!
Rating: Summary: Britney's done it again. Review: Sure, Britney Spears wasn't made to be an author.. but she's done everything possible in the entertainment world, ofcorse you should have prepared yourself for a fictional novel, right? The story is great. That might sound a little obvious coming from a huge Britney fan, but hey, I had all my friends whom are totally against the girl, read the book, and to my surprise not one person had a negative thing to say about it. Everybody, including my reading teacher, enjoyed it so much. Don't like Britney? This story is STILL for you. Just close your eyes and don't look at the cover, and you're all set. The plot has absoulutly nothing to do with Ms. Spears, although you CAN tell that some of the things happening in the story do go along the lines of her personal expirances. It's also a VERY touching book... I can't put into words how great it is, but go borrow it from your library, or give it as a gift... you have my word for it :)
Rating: Summary: This book is the pits Review: OK, I'll admit it, i bought the book because Britney Spears wrote it. But believe me, I realized my mistake! The writing is insipid and the characters have NO depth to them. And the story... I could have written that story and I have almost no creative writing skills whatsoever. Don't buy this book. Britney may be able to sing but she can't write.
Rating: Summary: A Great Singer, Not A Great Writter! Review: Britney Spears, writing a novel? Perhaps a good idea in theroy, but not in reality. This book was writen by a teenager, and when reading this book, that is quite easy to see. This book does have a good message, I won't tell you what it is, that would give the whole backstory of the novel away, but the book is just not written to well. The girl seems, too perfect, never slipping. Well, all the characters are like that, her mother, her boyfriend, the whole darn town, they seem like they all took a course on how to act like the Bradys! The charecters are just not real enough! They have no depth, although depth in the charecters is attempted, it is sorely not achived. Don't get me wrong, I like Britney Spears as an artist, I really do, it's just that she's too young to really have a good enough gasp on life and real human emotions, to write of these things. It's a book (not long enough to be considered a novel) with a good message, that is just sorely convayed. Any Britney fan will want this, but only for the fact she wrote it, and not for it's literary value.
Rating: Summary: I want to hurt this book..... Review: This book concerns a young lady named Holly who is very talented and wins a scholarship to Haverty a great prestigious music school. She is a poor girl economically but she has lots and lots of love, but the rich snobs who attend the school make fun of poor Holly, and her only friend is Ditz a artistic girl with distant parents. In the hands of a talented writer it could be a interesting and engaging story, however this book was not written by a talented writer, and story suffers. The plot is predictable and the writing is awful. This book has wide margins and a large typeface. This book is discouraging to writers like myself and others(who have shared their opinions) since it seems to prove that you can get a book published without any talent whatsoever. I have read owner's manuals that were more engaging than this awful book. This book was not worth the lives of the trees that lost their lives in the publishing process.
Rating: Summary: I know I know Review: alright i admit it, i bought this book because britney spears wrote it. I can only say it wasn't a masterpiece thats for sure. For me it was a little to full of religion with the characters always refering to god in every chapter. Now don't get me wrong there is nothing wrong with that but to some people it gets really annoying (like me) The story was alright, very bubblegummy! holly lynn's dream is to get in to this big fancy school for the musicaly gifted but she can't afford it! Then her boyfriend sends the tape in and she gets in and her mom is sad and there is a semi suprise ending which i won't tell you! All in all its all about a mother and daughter relationship. I would recomend this book to anyone under 12 or 13. I wasn't able to relate to the character that well, she seemed like a 9 year old the way the book was written(other than the boyfriend thing) I mean what sophmore in highschool acts like holly lynn ( the smartest most talented girl in all of mississippi)All the charcaters in her town have two names like holly lynn or wanda jo very hillibillyish. i hope this review helps you descion :-)!
Rating: Summary: Not bad. Review: Being a fan of Britney's music (but not much of a fan of HER), I found this book in a bookstore recently and decided to try it. It's actually pretty good. It's a little awkward, since Britney Spears is probably the last person in the world you could possibly imagine writing a book, but she's not a bad writer. A MOTHER'S GIFT actually keeps you're interest, and you wanna find out what happens to the main character, Holly, and see if her dreams actually do come true. This book is about a 14-year-old girl named Holly from a small town who dreams of becoming a famous successful singer...the only problem is that her mother, Wanda, can't afford it. But with the help of Holly's boyfriend, Holly gets into a top music school full of snobby wealthy students and eventually makes all her dreams come true. It's your typical teen novel but having Britney Spears and her own mother writing it makes it special and unique. If you are a Britney Spears fan or have ever had a dream goal, then read A MOTHER'S GIFT...it's inspirational! :-)
Rating: Summary: Superlative, Erudite, Inspired, Quintessential Magnum Opus Review: Who could have imagined that Britney Spears and her Mommy are in possession of literary skills comparable to William Faulkner, Virginia Woolf, James Joyce, John Dos Passos, and Marcel Proust combined? Flitting effortlessly from allegory worthy of Dante and Homer, to farce reminiscent of Waugh, Twain and Thurber, and back again to weltschmerz and pathos no worse than Gogol or Du Maurrier, this roller coaster ride visits the picaresque meadows, the sesquipedalian supermarket, the portmanteau prominade, and the Magister Ludi malt shop without ever stopping for fries and chili beans. For those uninitiated in the arcane, the oblique, or the obtuse, or have not spent time in French Sidewalk Cafes pretending they are speaking to Sartre' while he was scribbling notes for "Being and Nothingness" with one hand, and slurping expresso with the other, I have a suggestion. I would respectfully suggest you work your way up to this Sacred Level of Mount Literati, and the Polymaths who await you there, crosslegged, like Tibetan Monks, mentally x-raying your brainal jello-loaf, divining your comprehension, probing ..... *whew*, where was I?...and read "Why I Wish I Had a Pony" by Christina Aguilara first. I believe this work will prepare you for the larger project ahead courtesy of the Spears Roebuck Authorial team. Don't forget to pack at least 3 boxes of Kleenex (preferrably with that new vaseline coating so you don't chap up from all the blubbering), and keep some sort of dog or cat nearby in case you need to pet something furry in mid-read. There seems to be no question now that Britney and her Mommy have displaced Jewel as the greatest writer of her generation.
Rating: Summary: Not the exactly the best book Review: The story was simple and little boring. And the authors writing, not the best. I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone. Brittany is a great singer but not a great writer.
Rating: Summary: Pleasent surprise. Review: When I saw that my little sis had bought this book, I was like, "Oh what the heck. I'll read it just for the sake of it cuz we're going to the beach and I got nothing else to do once I get outta the water." To my surprise, I found that I was really enjoying the book. It's fairly short with bigger print so I was able to read it in one day. And the story actually had some very good points and morals in it. The basis is about this girl named Holly, who is this amazing singer, and her mother. Holly longs to get in this music school but knows that her mom would never be able to afford it. Well, her boyfriend secretly tapes her while she's singing in church and sends it in to the school. She gets in and is basically thrown into a completely different world then she's used to. I recommend the book, even if you don't really like Britney. It's a good, short read.
