Summary: NICE EXAMPLE
Review: The Bomb was a good example of the horror that nuclear weapons are. The book had a weak ending.

Review: The Bomb

I recently read a book called The Bomb by Theodore Taylor. This book is about a small island in the Pacific Ocean surrounding a lagoon near the end of WWII. The government wants the people of this island, named Bikini, to evacuate so they can test the new "atomic bomb" in their beautiful lagoon. Only one family actually realizes how bad the island would be if exposed to radiation, not to mention they'd have to move. So the family works together to stop the atom bomb, but they fail. The government tests the bomb, causing radiation to spread through the island. This book is based on a true story, and the Bikinians won't be able to return for 30 years due to high radiation levels and pieces of the nuclear bomb in the sand. This story is for anyone who would like to get background information on the atomic bomb or would just like to read a good book. This book has excitement but the ending is kind of sad because the main character tries to stop the bomb, but fails. This is a pretty good back and I would recommend it to anyone.

Summary: THE BOMB
Review: The book I read on was THE BOMB by Theodore Taylor and it is started when a family gets startled by Some bombs that hit the ground and they panic and pray that they will survive and then they here more planes and then they look out the window and it is the Americans chasing the Japan away. So they cheer and wave to the planes and then they wave back but the real war just started. I think the book was kind of good and kind of cheesy. The good part of it that the Americans win and the cheesy part was that there was no action and no killing but it was all right anyway.

Summary: Its da bomb
Review: The book is very well written. Everything is realistic, even if it's not real. It shows the fact that in war, there's no good guy.

Summary: Inside The Bomb
Review: The story takes place on Bikini Atoll in the Western Pacific in the late 1940's. Sixteen year old Sorry Rinamu, his grandfather Jonjen and Tara Malolo, the school teacher are caught in the middle of government experiments on atomic bombs. The government was testing atomic bombs on Bikini Atoll, but before the first test began the government relocated all of the inhabitants of the island to another island in the Atolls.

As the government prepares to begin the first atomic bomb test, Sorry, his grandfather and Tara Malolo sail back to Bikini in an attempt to stop the tests.

I thought that this was a well written book about an actual event combined with the creativity of Theodore Taylor's mind and his experience. Theodore Taylor was in the Navy and a part of the experiment at Bikini Atoll. He thought that the experiment was pointless and that it ruined a culture. I agree.

Summary: A Great Book about Atomic Bomb History
Review: This a great book for anybody who wants to know the pre history and testing of the A-Bomb. It maybe part fictional but you can really tell how the people of Bikini felt.
