Rating: Summary: Good! Review: This book is short but sweet. This has to be the Redwall book with the coolest war scenes. There is so much action crammed in this book it is not even funny.I started reading it just because it was a Redwall book.To find out it is the best one I have read. You must go and read this book.I think you will find it intreging. If you aren't a fan then read this one you will change your mind.
Rating: Summary: Not as good as some others--but not bad. Review: This book was, although not bad (in fact, rather good), not up to Brian Jacques's usual quality of writing. The comic relief seemed out-of-place on the battlefield, the characters were not as fine-tuned as usual, and the simplistic "Disney" effect seemed to carry over here more than in any other Redwall books. The main character, Tammo, a young hare who wants to join the Long Patrol, is an obnoxious brat who suddenly transforms into a hero. Although his adventure was interesting to read, his character seemed disposable and Jacques has created much better heroes. Tammo's lady love was not characterized at all, and I would have liked to have read far less of Tammo and more of Cregga Rose Eyes, the first female Salamandastron badger Lady we've read about; indeed, she seemed secondary to the plot until the Bloodwrath came along. Although Jacques continued to define the Abbey characters from Pearls well (Tansy, Craklyn, Viola, Diggum, Arven, etc.), the Abbey subplot, in which the southern wall was falling and Abbess Tansy and her friends discovered the treasure of Verdauga Greeneyes, was pretty lame in my humble opinion. Also, did anyone else notice the apparent change of gender for "Foremole Diggum and HIS moles" and "Goodwife Gurrbowl"? If I remember correctly, Diggum was originally a female and Gurrbowl was a male.
Rating: Summary: Eulaliaaaaaaaaa! Brian Jaques does it again. Review: In this, another installment in the beloved Redwall series, readers have found a true gem of a book. Full of vivid characters, luscious foods, and amazing scenes, Brian Jaques has made another masterpiece. I am a huge Redwall fan. I own all the books. It is hard to choose a favorite. The Long Patrol is definitely up there. How can anyone help but love the bally ol' hares, wot wot! Cregga Rose Eyes is without a doubt my favorite character in the series. Her ferocity surprised me and she is a strong female character. Only Jaques could spin such a good story, with such good characters. Critics will probably ravage this book for the usual sins- the plots are all the same, the characters are too perfect. I must admit, the bad guys are evil, and the good guys are good. What do you expect? This is an excellent fantasy, and if you read the book and enjoy fantasy, you will find that this fact does not matter. The characters still seem almost as if you know them. Also, the plot is unlike any of the others in the Redwall books. If you are looking for an enjoyable peace of fantasy fiction that includes vivid details, excellent characters, and engaging action and plots, you should read The Long Patrol.
Rating: Summary: "Jolly good show wot, wot" Review: I have read all of the redwall series and this is the best. Although the hares won way to easily, they are absujollylutely spiffingly hilarious. Toodle Pip!
Rating: Summary: Great Book! Review: This is a truly wonderful bit of work that is at once compelling and mystifying. Brian Jacque writes about Fantasy in which animals are personified to the extreme. The writing is quite good, but extremely taxing to read. Indeed, only readers who are returning to the series will be at all able to follow mole speech without going over it a few times, and the intricate language of hares seems little better. The story itself is quite good, and the only thing separating this novel from a fifth star is the surprising, and uncharacteristically sloppy introductions for so many of the characters. If you like the other novels of Redwall buy this book. If you have not read any of the others, perhaps Redwall, or Mossflower would be a better place to begin.
Rating: Summary: david's review for the long patrol [redwall series] Review: the long patrol has a great plot and interesting characters. the book had awesom battle seens. the description hepled me visualize the battles like they were right outside my window. Sometimes i even dream i'm a character in the book.
Rating: Summary: sacrafice Review: It is a great book with plenty of action and fun. What really intreaged me was the sacrafice of Russa the squirre. She died for the young badger. Great book Brian, keep up the work.
Rating: Summary: Encore! Encore! Encore! Review: At the climax of the Redwall series, the Long Patrol is clearlya book that will withstand the ages. As you picture yourself ingallant battles with valiant heroes, such as Tammo and the "absoballylutely" hilarious Long patrol, you will long to be an inhabitant of Mossflower . A challenging book for heavy-duty fantasy lovers, it will never be forgotten.
Rating: Summary: Fantastic Book Review: This book is such a good book, that I have read it six times. Each time I am still amazed and fascinated as if it was the first time I have read the book. Brian Jacques takes amazing characters and knows just where to put a turn of events. When I read Brian Jacques books, I feel as if I am in the book playing a character just like his. If I am reading of a great warrior, I feel like a warrior. If I am reading about the abbess or abbot of Redwall, I feel like one. This book is one of the few books that has that effect. The Long Patrol is a book not able to put into words. I was not able to put this book down. I pick it up in the morning and finish it that same night. Brian Jacques has created another masterpiece.
Rating: Summary: Best one yet! Review: This book is action packed and full of characters that are funny, interesting, and exciting. This tenth book of the famous REDWALL series is the best one yet. Anyone that wants to read non-stop adventure will love this book!
