Rating: Summary: Great for Godzilla fans... Review: This is a good sci-fi novel. It begins with mysterious activities in the Antartic, which include disappearing scientists and massive earthquakes. Before long, a host of huge monsters emerge, all of which are lesser-known critters from Toho's older movies. These include Gigan, Battra, Manda, and Hedorah, plus several others. As it turns out, they're being controled by an alien intellegence hidden under the Antartic ice. Lucky for the human race; Godzilla, Rodan, and a few other kauji are still around to help, if not intentionally. There are plenty of well-written scenes were Godzilla fights other creatures, so if you are into that, this book is right up your alley. As with the other Godzilla novels by Cerasini, one is left thinking, "Now, why hasn't someone made a Godzilla movie series based on these books?" I can still remember the day I stumbled upon this book years ago in a book store. It had just been published, and I was unaware of the series itself. I was so excited to see a serious novel about the original Godzilla that I bought it without a second thought. I have never regreted it. Unfortunatly, Cerasini has jammed too many monsters into one book. So many new characters are introduced it's unbelievable. If he had focused on the same specific group of people from the previous novel, this book may have been a little better. Despite it's shortcomings, however, GODZILLA AT WORLD'S END does wonders for many of the campy 1970s Toho monsters that every MST fan loves to heckle. If you like it when Godzilla dukes it out with other beasties, buy this book. If you enjoyed H.P. Lovecraft's, AT THE MOUNTAINS OF MADNESS, you should enjoy this novel.
Rating: Summary: Libertarian young-adult monster thriller? If you say so... Review: This is an odd mix of libertarian government-bashing, monster thriller, and young adult concerns, and nothing quite fits together. Drawing on the "rogues' gallery" of monsters from the Godzilla films, Cerasini spins a tale of an ancient Antarctic civilization (with a hat-tip to H. P. Lovecraft) out to clear the world of humans. A publicity tour of genius teens (in their own blimp!) and soldiers is the world's only hope to stop the monsters, and, by the way, Godzilla follows them for no apparent reason. If you like Godzilla monsters or military hardware, you'll find something for you. Otherwise, skip it.
Rating: Summary: Godzilla returns to save the world and this book (almost). Review: This sequel picks up after Godzilla 2000 ends (appropiately enough). There are plenty of in-joke references to Emmerich and Devlin's Independence Day and their own Godzilla film's add compaign. There are also references to other classic SF flicks, notably John Carpenter's superlative version of The Thing, and H.P. Lovecraft's Cthulthu Mythos stories. Sadly the humans eclipse some of the monster action, so this feels kind of slow mving. Kaiju classic creatures Megalon and Hedorah (aka The Smog Monster) feel tacked on rather than integral parts of the main plot. But the ending is nothing short of incredible and leaves the reader wanting more. If only the monsters had been better handled, this would have garnered five stars. Recommended.
Rating: Summary: This book wuz the bomb and a half Review: This was the first G-Series book I read. I now know I should have read Godzie Boy 2000, but, life happens. Anyway, I thought this book was great. I don't know how many times I've read it over. I really thought the Girl and Sean, the army boy, were gonna go together, but, I've been wrong before. If you don't know much about Godzilla, than you can still read this book and enjoy it. It is a nice prelude to the other G-Series books. I give this a 5 star rating. Marc Cersiani, keep up the good work.
Rating: Summary: Lots of Monsters and gore Review: Very fast paced and lots of monsters and bloo
Rating: Summary: Not quite finished Review: When I first started reading this book I could'nt stop , But before I could finish my dog tore it to shreds , so for over a year I've been reading online summaries of the book to make this review.
Rating: Summary: THE ABSOLUTE BEST OF THE SERIES! Review: Whoa! What a story! Godzilla now faces his biggest challenge and goes from chapter to chapter fighting off the likes of Manda, Megalon, and others. I liked how Godzilla was more of a main character, and his battles were cool. I also liked how Angilas whipped Gigan! However, Gigan didn't put up much of a fight! The book was absolutely first rate with many cool scenes, especially the final battle between Godzilla and Biollante! If you were dissapointed by GODZILLA 2000, don't overlook this one, it,stoo good to be true!
