Rating: Summary: WOW Review: At first when I got this book I thought Corny as hell. In about 1 1/2 days I will be finished this book. Tamlyn is something else and Hassan is a trip. Hassan deserves exactly what he gets and if that means he will end up with Debbie let the chips fall where they may. I really hope that Tamlyn does find happiness with Tom.
Rating: Summary: Nothing exciting Review: I put this book down several times because the main character seemed to be in a never-ending cycle of making the same mistakes in the name of love...or shall we say sex (probaly the best part of the book). When she finally makes a good life-changing decision, she almost renigs on that. I was a little disturbed by this character but I will give it 2 stars since it did arouse some type of emotion.
Rating: Summary: WOW!! :@) Review: I was thoroughly impressed by this book.... I was given this book to read by one of my co-workers in exchange for another. I could not put this book down. I could actually invision this work of art on the big screen and actually starting thinking of which actors would play which role. The lead character in this novel should be the role model for any young lady out there today struggling to make ends meet as a single parent. Job well done Ms. Biggs!! I look forward to reading her next work of art.
Rating: Summary: When You Look At Me Review: If you're looking for a story that's realistic, then you should by all means give WHEN YOU LOOK AT ME a read. And if you haven't learned at least a lesson or two by the time you finish this book, then you were not paying attention to the story that was being told. WHEN YOU LOOK AT ME is a very real story of a teenage mother who has to learn how to deal with life as it comes to her after making a few poor choices. You meet characters that trip and fall into mistakes that could hold them hostage for the rest of their lives. In this, her first novel, Undra E. Biggs uses tools like love, support and encouragement to blend her characters into a fast moving story that will not disappoint you from beginning to end. This is the kind of book that will make you think about being human and knowing that you don't have stay down when the world is counting you out.
Rating: Summary: A Debut Novel From An Author On The Rise... Review: In her debut novel, Ms. Undra Biggs takes you deep into the lives of two young adults, Tamlyn Blake and Hassan Colbirth. Each true to life character draws you close into the obstacles they encounter and the decisions they make. In When You Look At Me (what do you see) is a novel full of consequences, emotions, true to life experiences that everyone should read. I myself was so caught up in the the story... that I had to purchase an additional copy for my sister-in-law to read, so that I had someone to discuss the book with.If you're looking for fiction with a twist of reality, this should be a book you add to your collection. Ms. Biggs has written a book worth praising, a wonderful spirited author, with a style soon to be known to all. I am looking forward to Ms. Biggs second novel.... Backfield In Motion.....

Rating: Summary: One of the best books I have ever read. Review: This book was so exciting it had me reading it in the middle of the night. I could not put it down. The way undra wrote this book made you feel like you were part of the characters life.
Rating: Summary: A dynamic look at teenage mothers Review: Undra Biggs wonderful debut book, "When You Look at Me" is (please forgive the tired phrase) a dynamic coming of age story of Tamlyn Blake, 17 year old mother of two and it is also a love story between Tamlyn and hustler Hasaan Corbirth. Ms. Biggs invites the reader along to hear Tamlyn's thoughts as she grows from naive child to strong woman. What I love best is that Tamlyn could be anyone of us: she came from a good family yet made some bad decisons. The reader is invited along to grow with Tamlyn and experience both joy and pain as she matures. The style of writing is excellent and tight, unlike other AA works, without the benefit of a tacked on ending.
Rating: Summary: I see a good book Review: Very good book and excellent debut. WYLAM is the story of two youths finding their way in life. Tammy is a young single mother and high school drop-out coping with all the responsibilities that brings. The book begins with her leaving the comforts of her mother's home to living on welfare in the projects with her daughters. Tammy has to quickly adjust to being on her own. Hassan is a drug dealer determined not to follow in his father's footsteps by walking away from his family and responsibilities. Tammy and Hassan begin a relationship, and like all, have their fair share of problems. Will both of them be able to deal with the cards which they were dealt? Will they find what they are looking for?
Don't sleep on this one. I have had the opportunity to also read Ms. Biggs second novel Backfield In Motion. I recommend them both and look forward to more in the future.
Rating: Summary: While you have it, cherish it before it's gone.............. Review: We can't change the way things are. "If you can't love the one you want, then love the one you're with!"
To be young, stupid, and in love mixed with some teen pregnancy, a dash of hustling, flavored with baby mama drama, and seasoned in family feud!
NOW THAT'S AN EXPLOSIVE MIXTURE!
"When you look at me" is a forthright story about the lives of Tamlyn A. Blake, a 17-year-old single mom struggling trying to make it on her own. Be anything besides another statistic! Can Tammy rebuild or is this as good as it's going to get in her case?
Hassan Colbrith, a 23-year-old ex-con hustler. Trying to do right, but he's not patient. Trying to feed a kid is hard work so Hassan goes to the streets. The main thing worrying Hassan is stepping off like his Dad did him and his mom. Can Hassan stay clear of his father wicked ways?
As the two join you see the effect that their volatile love has on the lives of all the people directly and indirectly involved. More importantly it's the impact that it has on their future. The love they share in changes things for them both negatively and positively.
Will the good outweigh the bad in Tamlyn and Hassan's relationship?
This is a very lucid story that I am certain everyone will enjoy.
Thanks Tee-Tee for the recommendation!
