Rating: Summary: All things have been tried before!!!!! Review: This book is the most compelling and realistc book of the many hundreds that I have read, in my short lifetime. Yes, the format of the book may be boring and yes, the story has been repeated a countless number if times, but for anyone to have read this book and not at least give it four stars is completly ludicrous. I must tell you that I am only the mere high school age of fourteen years old but I am of extreme maturity, and it is very rare that I give a review such as this but I am and I did, and for all those who say other wise who have read the book, JUST READ IT AGAIN!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Incredible!!! Review: What an amazing book! The term 'couldn't put it down' is so trite, but it has never been more accurate than with "The Perks." This novel by Stephen Chbosky sucks you in and makes you think about your own life and what kids these days must have to go through (ie. somewhat poignant considering the Littleton tragedy recently). Anyone who reads this book and doesn't get it needs to watch a little less MTV. This is a great read and a very intelligent book. If Mr. Chbosky is reading this...is there going to be a movie? How do we get a look at the movies you've done previously. If they are anything like this book, they must be fun and stimulating to watch!
Rating: Summary: WOW! Review: I love this book so much! Everytime I can't find a new book to read, I read it again! If anyone ever finds a book that is like this one, PLEASE email me! I have not found one that can compare anywhere! Thank you so much!
Rating: Summary: Brings back memories. Review: I have to say that this is one of the best books that I have read in a while. I am currently a sophmore in college and I saw an ad for the book and I figured why not give it a try. So I ordered it and read it within 2 days. I could not put the book down. Being in college, It really brought back a lot of incredible memories from high school and made me long for it once again. I think that this piece of literature will become an asset to our geneneration. One person was right in saying that kids in school should be reading this in school. Excellent book! ps. MIX TAPES RULE!
Rating: Summary: ~~The most amazing, real book i have ever read!~~ Review: The first time i read this book, i read in in three days. i have since read "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" three times. it is amazing how real Charlie becomes in your mind and how you feel as though he is a real person who you can relate to. The book sums up the need to feel belonging, love, friendship, and the confusion of teenage years. I only wish that Stephen Chbosky would write another novel. It was sheerly amazing and everyone should have a chance to experience life through Charlie's eyes.
Rating: Summary: I could relate to a lot!! Review: This book was the best one I've read in forever! I am currently reading another book for school and I hate it! I think that this is the type of book that should be read by teenagers in schools. It taught me so much and it was so wonderful to read. This might actually be an assignment teens would want to do! I could relate to Charlie on a lot of things. When I finished the book, it was raining outside. I felt so good that I just wanted to run out into the rain and feel "infinite." A must-read for all ages!
Rating: Summary: The Best book I ever read Review: This book really touched me. It was so good that I could not put it down. I am searching for another book like it, but it does not exsist. I strongly recommend this book to anyone in 8-12 grade.
Rating: Summary: A truly AMAZING book!!! Review: This is a truly amazing book!!! I read it in one day, I couldn't put it down!!! There is something in this book that everyone can relate to. This was an excellent debut by this author. I look forward to his next book. I really think that everyone should go out and buy this book.
Rating: Summary: If I could give this book less than 1 star, I would. Review: I saw an advertisement for this book on MTV, and it looked like a good book, so I bought it. I have never been more disappointed. The prose is trite and longwinded, the plot is almost nonexistent, and the characters are one-sided at best. It saddens me that this book has become so popular while other -- better -- high school novels are barely noticed. I'd never before regretted buying a book before this one. The most irritating thing, I think, was the self-congratulatory way that Charlie views his own writing. I felt like the author was trying to tell us he was talented, when, in reality, what he should have been doing, was showing us. The whole book was just very disappointing.
Rating: Summary: Sometimes a book is just TRUE. Review: Do you know that feeling sometimes when a book gives you the shakes? When it's just so real, and so true, that it affects you physically? When you close the cover after the final page and your first thought it 'Who can I give this book to?'Well, this book gave me that feeling. Every page rings true, there is none of that jarring feeling of an adult writing about teenagers, it reads and feels like something written by a sad, smart, painfully honest 15-year-old boy. It's not an easy book to read, and be prepared to spend several days after you read it thinking about Charlie and his life. But if you're prepared for a book that is simply nakedly truthful, read this.
