Summary: I've read this book 19 times in the past year
Review: No, I don't have a lot of time on my hands. It's just this book is far from amazing. Midway through the book I fell in love with Charlie which was so fustrating because he was a character in a book and I was merely observing his world. I will just say read the book because if I say more, I will end up telling too much.

Review: Not only does this book let you into a life of an unknown person, it lets you into your own life. After reading this book before my senior year started (a few months back...) I realized I really needed too - and wanted to change things. This book shows how the little everyday things you do, DO MATTER. And how you can outcome anything with friends. Good solid friends. I can't explain it, but this book has been on of the few that has kissed my soul...very tenderly. I think every child should read this in highschool. It shows your everyday struggles and lusts for life. To be...you is the key. This book will help.

Summary: The Perks of Being a Wallflower
Review: I found this book rather humorous and interesting, however, I would not say that it's a favorite. I would recommend it to any teenager, mainly because it deals with a high school freshmen and the twists and turns of a teenagers life. It's written in a strange format that you basically have to get used to. In the beginning, I couldn't find myself interested all that much. The guys grammar was absolutely horrible, but it was that way for a reason. After a while it does get better, along with the book! I did enjoy the book, but I often felt confused.

Summary: The best book I've read.
Review: The cool part about this book is that it is easy to read, yet it isn't a book with no depth. When I read this book, I found myself relating to Charlie. I don't want to give the suprise away so I'll end with saying that this is a good book you should read.

Summary: An excellent selection...
Review: This was a truly touching book. It is written in diary form, which made it even beter. It is a comin-of-age novel about a boy named Charlie. It tells of his trials and tribulations in and out of his freshman year of high school. His friend Michael just recently committed suicide. He makes new friends who are seniors that he would never forget. This makes a truly interesting story that's a real page-turner.

Summary: I read this when I turned 16.
Review: I found The Perks of Being a Wallflower when searching on Amazon for books similiar to The Catcher in the Rye. I'm not going to tell you a lot of what the book is about. Because you can just read the blurb if you want to find out. But I'll just say that it answered a lot of questions for me. And if you're at that point of your life (teenage years) where you feel like you're searching for something. This book may be very insightful. I closely related to the main character Charlie. He's very innocent and brilliant. And if you really enjoy those books/movies that don't really "spell it out" for you and make you have to dig a little, as I do, then you will enjoy this book. I think that is mainly because it's written in letter form. And because the person who's writing the letters doesn't presume to know everything about life, it takes you on his journey of knowledge. And it will definetly make you look at life from a different angle. So, yeah, I would certainly recommend it.

Summary: excellent excellent book
Review: i bought this book on a whim one day 'cause i had read about it and heard it was really good. i didn't read it right away 'cause i was reading other stuff but when i finally read it i was blown away. even though i'm not as much of a loner as charlie is, i could still identify with a lot of the stuff he was feeling and going through. the love for his friends and the feeling of being "infinite" made me think of the special times i had with my friends, who also have moved and gone to college. i even made my boyfriend (one of those friends) read it and he loved it too. personally i think everyone should at least try and read this book.

Summary: Fantastic story of a confused, lonely, high schooler
Review: This book hit home. I was never a complete nerd, I had my close set of friends, but was never a jock, or one the coolest kids in class. Much like our "hero" Charlie, I discovered things at a slow pace, enjoyed high school, but think back that it could've been better. This book took me back to high school (even though I just graduated in 95) and I loved the ride man. All the while I read this book I pictured myself trudging down my high school halls, being late for class, hang out during lunch... Just a fantastic book, triggers a good walk down memory lane. Read it and enjoy.

Summary: best book i have ever read
Review: i began reading this book last december, my freshman year of high school. i finished it in two days. i honestly could not put it down, i have since read it at least four more times. each time i read it, it gets better. charlie's experiences helped me understand the politics of high school a little better and appreciate my friends a little more. he seems to have this untainted outlook on life that we all wish we had. he is able to see the good in almost everyone, or maybe he's just able to block out the bad. in any case he is a character that everyone can relate to and understand completely, even though not everyone has had the experiences he has. he makes you appreciate things a bit more, and see the world a little more innocently. steven chbosky has done a wonderful job of creating an emotional rollercoaster of a book. you don't have to be an outsider to love this book. it's just wonderful.

Summary: simply beautiful
Review: i read "the perks of being a wallflower" completely by accident. i saw it in a bookstore, liked the square format and the blurbs on the back, so i decided to purchase it. little did i know that this would be my best book purchase of the past 10 years. i am 27 years old, and am a contemporary/peer of the characters in this book. it is set in the early 90s and the characters are juniors and seniors in high school, with the exception of the main character, charlie, who is a freshman. this story was simply beautiful. beautifully written, beautifully thought out, beautifully developed. it reminds me of a cross between "dear mr. henshaw" by beverly cleary and "a catcher in the rye" by salinger. both great books in their own ways. however, what makes "the perks of being a wallflower" different is that it is set in the current, with current worries and issues that real teenagers feel. is it melancholy? sure. will it make you laugh and cry? definitely. is this the best book of the past decade? i'd have to say YES!
