Rating: Summary: This is a great Book Review: In a modern day novel that relates back to the story the Catcher and the Rye, The Perks of Being a Wallflower is a wonderfully depicted novel about teen years. A child who is becoming a man. The boy in the story learns about the harsh realities of growing up out of the lime light of popularity and into a darkness of drugs. With sex, drugs and classic drama Charlie's diary entries give you an overview of what it is like to not know who you are. In a search for his identity, Charlie runs into love and hate and cannot escape the shadow of his peers. When Charlie finally understands his long time hidden hardships he understands his identity. This story is amazing and I have yet to read a book in its genre that matches its magnitude and prominence.
Rating: Summary: infinite Review: This is one of the best books I've ever read. It's absolutelty incredible. In a way, I relate so much to charlie, and his friends, and I think so many people could too. This book was reccomended to me by a friend, and I'm so glad. Read this book, you will not be sorry. It sheds new light on what it means to be yourself. I got so much out of it. You'll love it!
Rating: Summary: breathtaking. Review: This book grabbed be on the very first page and held me there. The main character of this book, he puts faith into your heart on society. With each amazement at human nature he describes the naive words of a boy being forced through manhood as he enters the doors of High School.I'd recommend this for anyone entering high school or who wants to re-enter the doors through this book. Aboslutely wonderful.
Rating: Summary: Good for all teens Review: I couldn't put it down! Great book - I highly recommend it to ANY teen, whether they are a jock, prep or geek. Everyone can relate in one way or another to this Wallflower.
Rating: Summary: real Review: I've never read a book so real. I am eighteen years old and in my senior year at high school. I am a popular kid and in no way do I resemble any character in this book. The amazing thing about The Perks Of Being a Wall Flower is that you don't have to relate to any the charaters to understand. Instead you can look at the people you know and maybe begin to understad them better.I would recomend this book to anyone who wants or needs to understand the confusing life of teenagers,or for teenagers who just want to understand themself.
Rating: Summary: The Perks of being a wallflower - VR Review: This is my favorite book EVER!! It really made me appreciate my life and eveyrthing in it. After reading this book i felt deeply impacted and felt as though i knew the character Charlie in real life! it really opened my eyes and made me think about life in a more positive, naive way, which is a frame of mind i think we should all adopt every now and then.
Rating: Summary: blah Review: the perks of being a wallflower..hmm ok i found this book to be very depressing. i agree with what Leslie from Spokane had to say about it. Is the author trying to be cyncial here? i mean Charlie has OLDER friends, he smokes, does drugs, and gets kissed.(fresh year!) nope, don't think he's a wallflower. Oh yeah, he's smart too. The end was a complete suprise because he hadn't talked about his Aunt Helen and he just went into a trance while he was with Sam? didn't understand that. I didn't get what he was in the mental hospital for. His whole family treats him like he's amnaeic or something! He also phrases things weird. He doesn't sound like he's very depressed, i don't believe it. A friend recommended this, but i will not pass this book on.
Rating: Summary: Awesome Review: This book is one of the best books I have read in my life. It makes you feel infinite. Charlie describes what his life is all about and how he gets through the hard times. It really makes you look at your life and see how you would rate it, it also makes you want to enjoy every minute in life that you have.
Rating: Summary: my favorite book Review: I loved this book; I read it in one sitting. I read some of the reviews about how people thought that Charlie was unrealistic and how teenagers don't talk or act like like that. Well, I am a teenager. I could identify with Charlie-it's as if this book was written about me (or at least someone very closely resembling me). Also, I talk like they do in the book. Granted, I suppose that there will be those who won't relate to this book. However, if you are quiet, intelligent, painfully shy, and kind of a loner like me then you should love this book.
Rating: Summary: The importance of Honesty and Voice. Review: This is a book of pure reality. The main character Charlie is the tipical 9th grade outcast. Charlie is a confused teenager as far as death being a occational thing in his life. His life in high school is very "lonely". He finds a couple of seniors, Patrick and Sam, who introduces him to some other seniors. As a "wallflower", he is very observent of the things going on around him. He eventually falls in love with Sam, and learns how to cope with his feelings of love and hate for the people that he interacts with. This is a book full of meaning and wonder. A very advanced book that will keep your mind in constant state of thought. If there ever was a Catcher in the Rye 2, this is as close as your going to get. A easy going book to understand, yet takes a lot of knowledge that comes from life to understand. So enjoy this book and learn from it.
