Rating: Summary: The Perks of being a wallflower Review: This book was a great read. "The perks of being a wallflower" is about a kid named Charlie. Charlie is a depressed boy newly into high school nd he meets these kids, Sam and Chris, and they become friends. Charlie, Sam, and Chris start hanging out regualry and they introduce Charlie to all kinds of stuff. They introduce to sex, drugs, rock and roll, and the Rocky Horror Picutre Show. It tells about what happens when he experiments with some of this stuff. Charlie also falls in love with Sam but dosen't do anything about except just sit there and wait for her to do something about it. This book was phenomnial. It was a good read. It would a great book for 16 and up.
Rating: Summary: Woah...anyone who said it was "overrated" i just dont get Review: Alright guys..everyone on here except for the one guy thought it was amzing so take our word for it. I can connect with Charlie so much. He said that he seemed to wise for his age, yet my friends are like his and I think like him. Maybe in the ninetys things didnt seem like that and teenagers didnt think like that but I definitely do. I never really liked reading but this book had me hooked, im actually upset that its over. I loved it so much. You get so close to the characters you dont want to leave them. Charlie is someone i would definitely wanted to know. He reminds me of someone, someone I can totally understand. This book is too good for words. Best book ive ever read. It gives you knew aspects and theway Charlie thinks is so deep, nothing i would have expected to find at my school library. So read it!!
Rating: Summary: wallflowers Review: The Perks of Being a Wallflower was the best book i have read in a long time. I love all the detail and how the kid finds his place with the group of kids. Charlie was lost in the beginning because he really had no friends and was scared to make new friends. Finally he found two people that accepted him for who he really was. He found out many new things about these people but was not afraid to continue to be with these people. Overall this was an excellent book and i would automatically recommend it to anyone.
Rating: Summary: The perks of being a wallflower Review: "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" is a book written in the voice of a highschool social outcast, Charlie, through letters to an anonymous "friend". Throughout the book, Charlie comes out of his shell, makes a few friends, and finds out about a devastating secret about his Aunt Helen. Charlie's views on life, love, and relationships can relate to the readers. His honest thoughts and ideas make the reader think twice. The author, Stephen Chbosky, makes Charlie come alive with his simple, truthful, and easy to read style of writing. Chbosky has a way of taking ideas that I have had myself and putting them into words that almost any reader can connect with. "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" is probably best for readers 13 and up.
Rating: Summary: Stunning Review: "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" in many ways, reminded me of of "Catcher in the Rye" with one exception - I cared about the characters. Stephen Chbosky weaves a tale of teenage life - angst, love, infatuation, friendship, pot and booze, and not fitting in. The main character, Charlie is just as observant as Holden Caulfield ever was - but replaces resentment and anger with genuine facisnation with people and life in general. You find yourself *caring* what happens to Charlie, Sam, Patrick and Mary Elizabeth. This is a book which so beautifully describes adolescense - using a perfect combination of poetry and prose, along with poignant observations - that it will make you feel every range of emotions possible. I recommend this book highly.
Rating: Summary: And You Thought It Was Overrated .. BAH! Review: Perks of Being A Wallflower was an amazing book. Not many a book can make me cry, feel like I'm actually there, CARE for the characters as I would a friend. It was all together amazing. I don't see how ANYONE could think it overrated (Patrick Santana). Maybe the kid had good role models for those sorts of things. It's very believeable. And just so amazing. One of the few books I plan on reading again. Personally, I thought it was a lot better than Catcher in The Rye, but then again I didn't care very much for Catcher. Perks of Being A Wallflower helped me to not understand per se, but get a better feeling about guys in their High School and whatnot. I would recommend this book to any and everyone. It was seriously mind-blowingly good. The writing is superb, as was the word choice and had lovely organization. OH IT WAS JUST GREAT!
Rating: Summary: the ex boyfriend book Review: My ex boyfriend Andrew Flowers showed me this book before we dated. When I read it, I thought that it was really good. I was going to give him this book for his birthday until he cheated on me. This book made me see where he comes from and even though he was a jerk, I still couldn't get over this piece of literature.
Rating: Summary: great Review: Similar to Catcher in the Rye or Youth in Revolt, but with a more enjoyable plot than Catcher in the Rye through the eyes of a more mentally afflicted and sensitive kid. Very easy to relate to/sympathize with.
Rating: Summary: good. Review: I do not think that this book is really comparable to The Catcher in the Rye; it is not any kind of revolutionary book of its era or anything to that effect. However, I do think that beneath some of the possibly more seemingly juvenile subjects touched upon in The Perks of Being a Wallflower, the book makes some very interesting, not yet touched upon points about growing up and fitting in, and does so in a way that is different from the rest of the 'teen angst' novels that seem to be consuming the literary world. I related strongly to the narrator, enjoyed his style of writing, and was even caught off guard by some of the novel's twists. Overall, I found it a good, entertaining book, though I'm not sure how appealing it would be to anyone beyond their teenage years.
Rating: Summary: Terrible Review: This was really a bad book. I mean the story line was alright its just that the characters were so uninteresting and flat. The main character kept switching back and forth between a really mentally retarted kid and a normal teenager. There were parts that were extreamly unrealistic and just plain stupid. I do not recomend this book.
