Rating: Summary: Inside the head of a teenager Review: The format of this story brings a whole new meaning to the idea of character analysis. What regularly would be a typical deception of the life a high school student ended up being a total plot twister. All the events that occurred in the story somehow ended up having a twist in them. That is what makes this story so interesting. One moment, you think something is going to happen but just the opposite occurs. This adds to the ever growing plot of the story. Charlie's point of view on things is always interesting.
Rating: Summary: Hilarious Review: I read this book for my english class next semester. What a funny yet completely honest main character. The tales the narrator tells make you laugh and cringe. I felt bad for the fella, but he had a wonderful attitude that helped him get through all situations. I would definately recommend this book to anybody who likes to hear a good story.
Rating: Summary: Different Review: This book is telling the life of a teenager going throw the teenage usual life. He has an older sister and brother. The teen in this book, Charlie, is writeing a letter to someone unknown. When he starts hanging out with Sam and Patrick, they lead him to new adventures. For example: smoking, drinking, ..., getting high, and going to wild parties with sex. If you like this kind of book it will be good for you. The language isn't that good. But if you like books that can prepare you for life in a way that you might face these things, then this book will show you some things about life. But don't be tricked about the book when you first read it, it gets better, and the end is something you would never expect.
Rating: Summary: one of the best books I have ever read Review: "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" was an amazing book. The writing style is very creative, and clever. The story is simply magnificent! I suggest every person read this, boy or girl. I cannot reccommend it more that this, what can I say it's a fabulous book!
Rating: Summary: Greatest Book EVER!! Review: Hello. This book is one of the greatest books I have ever read. I read it in two days because I could not put it down, and wish there were more books out there as great as this one. Hopefully one day Stephen Chbosky will write more about Carlie, because I am still very interested in more about him at the end of the novel.
Rating: Summary: You'll never look at mix tapes the same Review: This book is a pure work of brilliance. I am a 15 year old boy, I could deffinetely relate to the main character (Charlie.) If you have read the great novels "Catcher In the Rye," or "A Separate Peace," and enjoyed those, I guarantee you will have a splendid time reading this gem. ...I couldn't stop reading this book. I read it all in one day (with breaks of course.) I think anyone can relate to the delicate nature of the topics this book deals with: "death, suicide, sex, drugs, experimentation, ect." You'll never look at mix tapes the same again. Also, throughout the book Charlie reads many great novels that I would highly recommend like "Naked Lunch," "On the Road," "To Kill A Mockingbird," ect.
Rating: Summary: charlie - an unlikely heroe Review: i just finished reading "perks" this morning and i wanted to write a review while it was all fresh. this is a wonderful book filled with humanity and insight on the experiences and feelings of charlie, a 15 year old kid who is going through the wonders and the hell of puberty, love, self-esteem, friendship, family and a couple of other things i might ruin your reading if i tell you about them. this is a short book but it goes a long way. i paced myself quite slowly at the beginning, but found myself immersed in the roller-coaster ride that is charlie. i'm going to read it again this week!
Rating: Summary: Review Review: Smart and Witty, I am a 14 yr old boy, and i could really see alot of things that happened to Charlie happen to several of my friends. I don't think all of the bad things in his life can happen to someone, but it might. I started reading this on a Tues. and couldn't put it down, i read all through the Christmas parties at my school and i finished it today. It was truly amazing and had alot of interesting things in it. I would suggest this book to anyone over 12.
Rating: Summary: It's truly a book that you don't want to end Review: I also am one who absolutely adored this book. Not only did i find the characters and situations realistic, but i loved the relationships Chbosky created. He made teh peopel seem real adn intense and really allowed you to be brought into the story, the scenes, the complications that each of the characters encounter. As i said in teh title, it was almost depressing to see that i only had 10 pages, then 5 pages, then the last paragraph to read. You want to learn more about Charlie, about Sam and patrick adn you want to continue to hear of their lives. This is a great book that gave me a new insight into life. But like previous reviewers said, it's more of a teenager's book.
Rating: Summary: Excellent coming-of-age novel Review: This is a deeply moving story about Charlie--a high school freshman struggling to come to terms with himself and his place in the world. This novel simply sucks the reader into Charlie's world--the sadness, the pain, and yes the exhilaration of "being infinite." The entire story is cleverly presented in letter form with Charlie pouring out his feelings to an unidentified person he simply calls "friend." This format succeeds because Charlie's words come across as raw, heartfelt, and sincere--at times beautifully so, at other times, heartbreakingly so.
