Review: Growing up is not all roses as most of us remember. The novel shows the clarity of what it is like, the good and the bad. From innocent crushes, to being high for the first time. Riding around with your closest friends and feeling that time has stood still as the memorable sounds play from the tape player. A book about about life, without the sugar coating.

Summary: Disappointing Ending But Still A Decent Read
Review: While I write this, Wallflower had been #1 on the G/L chart for months and has received >400 reviews. I figured it must have something going for it, so I got a copy. I think this story accurately captures a very awkward time in a dysfunctional 15 year old's life--but why all the crying? The 'infinite' scene was indeed the best one as has been noted. And while I was wondering why Charlie seemed so ineffectual while he was experiencing all these things, I was disappointed with the ending only because it was completely unexpected and perhaps a bit off the wall. Regardless, I would say this is a good read and would read the next novel by this author.

Review: My friends have been trying to get me to read this book for years. I finally got around to it, and finally understand all the hype. This is a very very good book. It's subject matter makes you both identify with the main character as well as realize that your life could be a lot a worse. It's a great book.

Review: This poignant novel hits the nail right on the head. You'll find yourself wanting to eat up Chbosky's book as soon as you dive into it. I, for one, finished it in an afternoon. It is an awesome book that anyone can read and relate to.

Review: i dont think i can explain how wonderful this book is. ive read parts of it outloud in my highschool english classes. i give this book to my best friends, and because they know just how much it means to me they recognize that they mean that much to me. i read this book for the first time during one of the worst parts of my life so far, and it basically shocked me into realizing "hey some people have it worse! wake up woman!" since then, ive read that book until it has almost fallen apart. some of my teachers have read my copy and each time someone knew reads it, i ask them to use a different colored pen and outline their favorite parts as they read. i cant stress how amazing Chbosky is and i am still waiting for another book. this is one of the best gifts someone could give... if youre looking for a present for your boyfriend or girlfriend just a friend or your child, this is it. nothing compares...

Review: What a tremendous book, based on changing and developing in the messed up society that we live in. Charlie is a tender hearted boy that just about every High School student can relate to. The parties, the drugs, the friends....these are all very realistic activities for many students, yet Charlie's extraordinary friendships are something many people only dream of. Charlie's insight is somewhat comical, but yet in a way very somber. Seeing the world through the eyes of a so-called "wallflower" is very enlightening. The fact that the reader is left to interpret who Charlie is actually writing to, makes this story intriguing and I personally want to know what has come of him. Not falling in love with Charlie's character isn't an option when reading this heart wrenching story involving the things they don't teach you in high school.

Review: I read this book last year, when i went to a very sheltered catholic jr high school where even a a whisper of suicide or death would get you detention. This book made me realize how horrible this was for a child maturing into adulthood, who would soon have to face the real world. The fact that the main character, Charlie, is so open and trusting that he tells all and holds nothing back, helps the reader find somthing to identify with. Through this book I gained an understanding of an individuals growth and the obstacles they encounter. The reader of this novel (if around the age of Charlie) realizes that the words of Steven Chbosky are exactly how they feel, and exactly what they are going through. A new outlook on the world may be developed from what you learn from this book, if you just take the time to think about its meaning and the connections to everyday life.

Summary: What it's like growing up in high school!
Review: Would you like to know how some teenagers deal with high school? If the answer is yes then this is the book to read. It gives you a good idea of what goes on in a typical high school. I am a high school senior and I was able to relate to some of the issues the characters dealt with. There were also parts of the book that were unusual and would not necessarily relate to all the students in high school. The main character was a high school freshman named Charlie. He befriends two seniors named Patrick and Samantha and all his high school adventures begin! They take him to parties where he deals with issues of drugs and sexuality. Charlie is learning how to deal with friendships and relationships. The book was written in a unique way. Charlie was writing to an unknown recipient who he refers to as "friend". This was very clever and it helped to reader to understand how the character truly felt and exactly what he was thinking. I felt like I knew the main character by the end of the book because you learn so much about his emotions. He is very intelligent and sometimes faced depression when he thought about his aunt and his best friend, whom had passed away. His family also plays an important role in how he deals with the issues in his life. Charlie has two older siblings and his sister is rather distant. When his sister fears she is pregnant Charlie helps her to deal with her fears. This brings them very close together and in the end helps him through a depression he faces when he realizes the kind of relationship he had with his aunt. I would recommend this book to teens in high school because it makes you feel like your not the only one facing the hardships of growing up!
