Summary: excellent
Review: I read this book for my high school book club, and I fell in love with it. This book made me laugh and cry. I think I have re-read it three or four times in the past couple of years and it has always been just as good as the first time. It is sort of a more modern "coming of age" novel just like "The Catcher in the Rye" was. I would recommend this book to everyone.

Summary: Good but not exactly original.
Review: Many of my friends told me about this book saying that it could not go without reading. I figured I would give it chance because I hadn't heard a bad review. I finished it in one afternoon and have to say that it lacked originality. I failed to find something life altering or any source of self revalation among the pages.

I have seen the "diary style" book many times before, such as "Go Ask Alice". The themes seemed to be extremely common among teen Stories. For Example, "Hi I'm Davey and I'm an alcoholic."

In my opinion, it is a book that people who dont exactly read alot can refernce in order to appear that they are avid readers. Although you won't find the book in the young adult section, it is short and has a very vibrant cover in order to appeal to a younger crowd. Another thing I noticed was that it was endorsed by Mtv.

Don't get me wrong, I though it was a good book, just not great. I think that if you have the time and enjoy these kind of books you should definatly pick it up at the library. Just don't expect to finish the book with a new sense or a new outlook on life (although it may happen. everyone is different.)

Summary: Wonderful Book..
Review: This book is a very honest book about a boy named Charlie. The whole book is his thoughts about the world around him. It is as if a diary, but so much more.

The one the thing the reader can get from this book is a relationship with Charlie. The reader can relate to so many of the thoughts and actions that Charlie is faced with. I believe this book is a great book for anyone who ever looks at someone and wonders "What are they thinking?" This is what Charlie thinks.

This book is my favorite book. I hope it becomes yours.

Summary: The Perks of Reading Chbosky
Review: This first novel by Stephen Chbosky captures the voice and spirit of a freshman in high school who would be considered a "geek" because he's brainy, yet socially awkward. Similar to a diary format, this boy, Charlie, writes letters to a mysterious "friend" throughout the course of his freshman year. You get to see his life and his experiences through his eyes, as he grows as a young individual with the help of friends that he meets throughout the year. Oft times, it's touching, as you begin to feel sorry for Charlie because he isn't social adept.

I haven't read anything else by Chbosky, but I'm sure his other works aren't similar. He captures the thoughts, feelings, and words of a reserved freshman perfectly. The voice of the novel is predominantly Charlie throughout the book vs. anything Chbosky has probably written before. It was a great read...and somewhat emotional at times as you begin to discover more and more about Charlie, his family, and his friends. I'd recommend this book for anyone who's ever felt like an outsider...whether in high school, before high school, or after high school.

Summary: A Superb Coming-of-Age Book for All Ages
Review: This cult hit is too amazing to describe accurately. The book is written in letters to an anonymous "friend", which allows Charlie to tell his life's story without it feeling contrived. The tale of a freshman who doesnt really fit in, befriends seniors, and goes through social anxieties and transformations is true to life. (I am currently a high school freshman, and have seen it all happen.) The best part of this book is how real it seems. With the mention of music, movies, ect. it feels like this kid could be standing next to you explaining all his woes. Suggestion: make a mix tape of the songs mentioned in the book, and read it listening to said tape. Or, at the very least, listen to "Asleep" by The Smiths as you start and end the book. It makes the reading experiance even more amazing. I highly recommend this book to every person, whether youre hetero or homosexual, male or female, young or old- I promise that you will fall in love with this book!

Summary: Straight-Foreward And Realistic
Review: The ending (last 2 pages) made me want to shake the bee-jeezes out of Charlie. The fact he feels no hatred, no anger, no "woo-is-me" emotions makes me catch my breath. I will not ruin the ending for you, but two sentences in the near end really got to me. Maybe it was how calm he seem. This is no "Sex, sex, sex" sterotypical teenage boy. Charlie is far more complex than that. He goes through things that many adults don't want to believe happens. Being a teenager in high school myself, it shocked me how realistic this was. I've never read a book that stated "I'm up to ten cigarettes a day," so openly. Usually, people try to tiptoe around those topics like some taboo.

If you want a glimpse at the real world of a teen, read this. I'm not saying we're all a bunch of potheads, but things like that happens. Believe me.

Summary: AMAZING
Review: this book is amazing... there are no words to describe how much i enjoyed it. I read a few pages and the next thing I know im finished with it. I really enjoyed this book because Charlie isnt perfect. He has some problems. Im not the one 2 cry but this book brought tears to my eyes when I read the thing with mary-elizabeth,sam and charlie (truth or dare) A MUST READ BOOK, but make sure you are mature enough to handle the adult themes.

Summary: A Short One
Review: I read this book my Freshman Year in College. I thought it was good then and I think it's good now. There's nothing revolutionary about the book but Chbosky writes with good intentions and it works. It's heartfelt without being sappy or melodramatic, funny but not pretentious about it. ...

Summary: Original, and the style was interesting
Review: Being 13, I love to read books about girls and guys. Well, this book was sort of like that, but it was definitely more than just the romance between two characters. This novel takes you inside Charlie's head, as he write letters to an anonymous person. I loved the fact that it was set up this way too. This book definitely hyas some very deep messages in it, some of which you will have to read yourself t understand. I would recommend this book to anyone 13 or older, because some of the p0arts were a little bit inappropraite. All in all, a significant read!

Review: This is one of the best books i have ever read! This book was great for me because as most teenagers that have family problems and problems with sexuality, this book shares it all! Mostly because this book reminds me alot of myself! I tried the whold drug and suicide route! And the best thing about this book is the poem, there is a poem about this kid who kills him self and it was like the saddest thing i have ever read! If you have a heart you will love this book! I give it 100 stars
