Summary: Made me look at high school differently.
Review: This book changed me. Being a sophomore in high school, it made me take a look at things and I realized how accurate the book is. People say high school is all about cliques, sex, drugs, rocknroll, and academics.

This book made me realize how much more there is to high school than that. It's the effects of these things that make the book so much deeper than the others in its specific drama. I've never looked at people in my school the same way again. And that's a good thing.

Summary: It is trite, but...
Review: My friend bought me this book for Christmas. I'd never heard of it, but she said it was really good, and that it made her want to listen to Dashboard Confessional.
My first impression wasn't too good. A grossly naive teen writing letters to someone... sounded like an Adrian Mole knock-off or something. Then there are a lot of depressing, messed up things that go on in this book, pretty much every problem you can name: suicide, homosexuality, mental illness, teen pregnancy, etc.
However, I did appreciate this book. Chbosky shows originality, despite all the borrowed themes. The Perks... takes place in the early 90s, for one thing, which immediately reminded me of the movie Reality Bites. Charlie, the main character was questionable at first, but is an honest, highly developed character.
The Perks... is an easy read, but anyone can read this book a million times and enjoy it. I would NOT compare it to Dashboard Confessional, I think their work is a tad bit different from Chbosky's. The Smiths might be more appropriate (Charlie's favorite song is "Asleep" by The Smiths), or perhaps some titles by The Cure.

Review: this is THE ABSOLUTE BEST book i have ever opened. i have read it too many times to count and have given a copy to most of my family and friends. it is so true to what life can really be like for a high schooler. i can relate a lot to this book. it is so full of emotional. u want to cry and laugh right along with charlie. even with all the times i've read i still can put it down. even my mom is reading it. it truely is the best book i have ever read.

Summary: Sappy and the facts of being alive
Review: I like the sappy books that make every movement of the characters really mean something. Although the end was a bit shocking, this work brings me back to when I was younger and more vulnerable to such sad writing. It is a strong work, though, and will leave you thinking really hard about who you are.

Summary: A book about a life of a teenager
Review: This was an amazing book.. I dont really read much but this book was actually very good.. This is a good book for teenagers because it's basically what a lot of us go through and what a lot of us think too. The book really touched me because when you read it you know there is people out there that went through the same things as you. The thing that people might think is bad about this book is it talks about doing drugs but I think it's a good thing not because people will go and do them but because you know how the person feels about it. I would recommend this book to teenagers and parents because they need to know what we think and how we feel about things.

Summary: On Feeling Infinite
Review: A sweet, sensitive, thoughtful book about life, love, grief, and friendship which reminds me as much of Ordinary People and Rule of the Bone as The Catcher in the Rye. Its unusual structure serves its narrative structure well; it allows Charlie, who turns out to be a warm, thoughtful, wonderful character, to control even when he feels least in control, and us as readers to feel in his absences the longing and hope that all teenagers must feel--at least, those as sensitive as he. And, of course, in Sam the writer has created a love object as endearing as any I can remember. Bravo to Chbosky and a sincere thank you for reminding us that love is to be acted upon, not just felt, and that, to feel infinite, one has to "participate".

Summary: The Perks Of Being A Wallflower
Review: This book is about some nobody's life. It's some sophmore kid at a new school with only 1 friend... Not too far into the book, his only friend kills himself. A fourth of the way into the book, Charlie (the main character) runs into a couple of seniors at a varsity football game. So hes invited to a after game party where he's introduced to drugs.... Later on in the book charlie comes to the realization that he has a huge crush on Sam... And to finish it up; at the end of the book he's in the same situation that he was in the beginning.. No friends and feeling lonely...

Summary: The Perks Of Being A Wallflower
Review: I read "The perks to being a wallflower" I thought it was a very good book, I enjoyed it very much. I think it had alot of good points. It was a very "real" book showing what life is like for a lot of teenagers. It talks aboout all kinds things from death, suicide to girlfriends and sex. I think it also helped alot of kids realize that they'er not the only ones who feel like charlie (the main charcater)did. It is a very good book for a wide range of different people I would recomend it to anyone.
