Summary: Should still be in print!!
Review: This is such a wonderful book. I loved it as a teenager, and I wish it were still in print - it should be. It's a story of Julie Trelling, a girl who lost her mother and was sent to live with her aunt. Julie is a dreamy, smart, and curious girl who dreams of being a writer. The author captures Julie's confusion and sadness after losing her mother, but also the confusion, joy and challenges of being a teenage girl.

Summary: Beautifully Written Book
Review: Up a Road Slowly is a beautiful book. It is easy to relate to the main character, Julie Trelling, as she experiences life from the tender age of five, through her completion of high school. Julie's life is not exciting, and is quite ordinary. However, that is the beauty of the book. Irene Hunt took things that happen in everyone's life, gave them a special charm, and added a little wisdom as well.

Summary: Fabolous!!!
Review: UP A ROAD SLOWLY is a touching portrait of one girl, Julie Trelling, and her years from her seventh year to her seventeenth. I laughed and cried at every turn. When Aggie died I sobbed and when Julie talked to God I laughed until my sides hurt. I'd highly recommend this to anyone who likes a good book.

Summary: Up a Road Slowly
Review: When I first saw this book I thought it was going to be just another boring book. Well, I was wrong. After the first few chapters, I thought this was the best book that I ever read. It was a book with alot af characters that I could relate to. It also had alot of morals witch will help me in the future. My favorite character is Aunt Cordelia because she was like another character that I saw in my favorite show ( Boy Meets World ) Mr. Finni. Like Mr. Finni, Aunt Cordelia taught Julie lessons without really telling her and I admire her for that. This book changed my way of thinking so I recomend this book to anyone of any age because the words are easy to read and it is easy to understand.

Summary: a wonderful story
Review: When I was approximately 10 years old I read Up A Road Slowly at least 6 times. It's one of the only books I can remember reading as a youngster and I want to purchase it for my niece but I haven't been able to find it anywhere. I hope they reprint this story as it is a wonderful coming of age story and it would be a shame to have the next generation miss out!

Summary: Great Read
Review: When I was in 5th Grade about 15 years ago, a substitute teacher read this book aloud to us. I thought it started out slowly, but soon was completely cought up in it. Several years later, I completely forgot the title and author of the book and only remembered that it was about a girl growing up under the guidance of her Aunt. I was looking at the newberry awards section of our local library several years ago and was very surprised and pleased to have finally found it. I enjoyed it even more in my mid-twenties the second time around. Irene Hunt has a fluid, almost lyrical way of writing that really captured me. Her characters are so complex and richly described. Overall, this is a gem of a book...
