Rating: Summary: Up a Road Slowly Review: I loved this book. It helped me understand growing up and understand all the problems I will face while I grow up.
Rating: Summary: This is one you will want to buy and keep Review: I read this book back in 1968 when I was in the seventh grade.(and many times since) I fell in love with the way the book was written and what the story told. All of us have a little bit of Julie in us. I bought one copy and then found another in the library sale last year for a quater! Now I have two, one to loan out and the other in case I never get the one back. If you read this book and you do not agree that it is a great book then something must surly be missing from you life.
Rating: Summary: A touching story that has stayed with me all these years Review: I read this book when I was twelve years old. I was lost in the beauty of the language and Hunt's description of ordinary things such as berries in a bowl. Her characters were alive in my soul. They moved me in ways no other book had ever done. Julie Trelling's story was sad and triumph; poignant and beautiful. This is one book I highly recommend to anyone who wants to fall in love with characters and read a book that you won't be able to put down.
Rating: Summary: A beautiful book that I've read over and over... Review: I received this book for my 12th birthday in 1968 and I have read it at least 6-8 times since. I just re-read it with my 9 year old daughter. Half-way through, she asked if I would please leave it to her in my will...that's how wonderful this book is! Irene Hunt has taken on the task of telling the story of a young girls coming-of-age in such a way that it is difficult to guess just when the story is taking place. The situations and emotions are vividly and poignantly described by Hunt and are just as true today as they were 30 years ago and will be 30 years from now. I rate this book as one of my all-time favorites along with A Tree Grows in Brooklyn.
Rating: Summary: Up a Road Slowly Review: I think I first read this book when I was nine years old. Now, almost 15 years later, I came across this book in a used bookstore. Again, the book was wonderful. Aunt Cordelia is one of my favorite characters. I think one of the most compelling characters is Aggie. The poor child, treated cruelly by all, but completely unaware.
Rating: Summary: Up a Road Slowly Review: I thought that this was a really good book. It has a very good plot and interesting charecters. Although this book was good it is very low in action and very corny. Guys would like this book I know I did, but I think that girls that like romance stories would like it more. So if you are looking for a good book read "Up a Road Slowly".
Rating: Summary: This was a so-so book Review: I thought this book had some good parts although i was disapointed with some of the things in the story.I would probly recomend this book to some of my friends(not likly) because they are not interseted in this kind of stuff.
Rating: Summary: Great Book!! Review: I thought this book was really great. You could tell that the author put some exsperiences from her own life into htis book.I really enjoyed the book and I knew other people enjoyed it as well. So if you never read this book before you don't know what you are missing. So put some time away and read this book, I am sure you will enjoy it.
