Summary: A compelling read
Review: This book was an amazing tlae, taking several themes, and incorporating them into one carefully spun story. This is the story of a girl who has grown up without a mother, and now must go with her father to the distant and remote country of Wales. Also, it is a story of another family, one filled with the horrors of divorce, and an awful secret. Last. but certainly not least, is the tale of Carwen, the ghost. Her story is heartwarming, but also heartbreaking. Kimmel does an excellent job of tying the themes together. Also, she does an excellent job of developing her characters. I love and hate Dennis and Miranda- sometimes at the same time. Miranda in particular is an intriguing character. I also love the backdrop of Wales. It was a great place to set this story. I would suggest this story to anyone who enjoys ghost stories, mysteries, or family dramas. Happy Reading!

Summary: Great Book
Review: This is the best book i've read in a long time. It was very sad and even though my family is anything but disfunctional, I sympathize with Cristyn for the loss of her mother. I could also understand Miranda's feelings of resentment toward her brother, Dennis, because most of my friends feel that way about their siblings. I have never had a younger brother, but this book made me wish I did and glad I didn't at the same time. This book is exciting, mystifying, and down-to-earth at the same time. As I said, one of the best books I've read, and certainly the most thought-provoking. Read it!

Summary: One tip, Don't read it before going to bed!
Review: This is the only book that ever scared me out of my wits yet made me teary-eyed. As a suggestion from a librarian, I borrowed the book and I loved it. I Like the end. That's the part that almost made me cry because it hit too close to home. Borrow this book from the library first, though. Liking it is a matter of taste.

Summary: A page turner
Review: Two families spend the summer together in Wales in an ancient cottage while the single parents collaborate on a research project on medieval Welsh history. The story is related through the perspective of Cristyn, a fourteen-year-old only child. Sharing living space with the other family, who have gone through a bitter divorce, is challenging to her. Never having resolved her feelings about the death of her mother when she was only three, Cristyn is visited by ghosts who need her help.

The dialog and emotion ring true in this suspenseful tale which is just right for middle schoolers. The ghost story is based on historical characters from the thirteenth-century conflict between the Welsh and the English, which adds a level of realism to the supernatural.
