Summary: Decent Book - Not Meant To Be A Panacea
Review: An anonymous reviewer stated that the book offered no solutions. The author states upfront that: The book is NOT a solution and inter-racial dating is a CHOICE. The book recounts the authors personal experiences in making that choice and realistically describes the problems that WILL be faced and the personal situations that may generated by inter-racial dating/marriage. It is a decent book in the sense that it recounts her personal opinions and experiences with this subject. It attempts to extrapolate that experience into general help for others. To that end, the author augments her personal experiences with external information, research, statistics, etc., that do a good job of being practical about this subject. If you're looking for solutions to your inter-racial dating problem, then look elsewhere. This book cannot cure cancer, eliminate centuries of racial predjudice or cure the common cold. Don't expect it to do so, for there is no book you can read that can or will accomplish these things. But if you seek more information, and a scope broader than your own limited experience, then I recommend this book.

Summary: OK...but you can do more than cope!
Review: I have read the book and I think it just describes the facts of Interracial Dating Precisely. I however doesn't really offer any real solutions. It just helps you deal with the problems and warn you of the challenges...it doesn't actually help you SOLVE the problems involved. It is a good description but not a good prescription. However it does have one thing good about dealing with parents

Summary: Coping with Interracial Dating
Review: I'm the author of this book. I've had lots of experience with interracial dating and conducted mountains of research on the subject for this book and other writings. My goal with this book was to talk to teens (I think adults can benefit from it too.) about what kinds of challenges they face and why their dating outside their race would be an issue for society, especially their parents. There are no "solutions" to successfully dating outside your race. So, if you're looking for solutions you'll be disappointed. The answer is in your own maturity and your ability to communicate honestly and openly with your partner and those you really care about. Dating outside your race is a choice. People who don't like your choice often just don't understand. This books provides you with some facts and theories about what goes through people's head when they see an interracial couple.
