Summary: Fantastic
Review: I've read many of Judy Blumes books, and I must admite this is one of my favorites. It is amazing how Judy Blume can put so much emotion into one book. She is so great at getting the feelings and thoughts of children and young adults so right. It's Amazing.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: It feels like the end of the world though
Review: I've said it before and I will say it again. No one, and I mean no one, can top Blume in this genre. She taps into the feelings, mindset, and perceptions of young girls in this age group like no one else. I read this a thousand years ago, and I still remember it vividly. A terrific book for young, female readers.

Summary: This book is dated and boreing!
Review: If you arn'd a hige fan of judy blume, I would not recommend this book. It takes place in 1973 and all of the characters act this way. Also, all the book is about is a little girs who's parents got divorced. Personally, I think watching paint dry would be more exciting. The only reason I personally read the book, was because it was assigned for school! So unless you need a good sedative, I would not recommend this book.

Summary: Can Karen Keep Her Parents Together?
Review: In this book, Karen Newman's parents are getting divorced. She has a little sister, Amy, and an older brother, Jeff. Karen does not want this to happen. Karen does not want this to happen. Her father moves out, even though they are not divorced. Karen is very mad at them. She tries really hard to get them back together.
Jeff runs away, and her parents get very mad at each other, and she gets madder at them. Finally she realizes she can not stop them from getting divorced.
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes books that are funny, serious and a teeny bit sad all at the same time. It was funny when Karen tried to get sick so her parents would take care of her and not get divorced, and serious because it is just a regular girl's life, and sad when her parents get divorced.
I liked Debbie, Karen's best friend, because she was very funny, and she was kind to Karen while her parents were getting divorced. She did this by paying more attention to her than usual, when she would be flirting with Jeff.

Summary: Karen's Parents Divorce
Review: It's not the end of the world by Judy Blume is about this girl named Karen whose parents are getting divorced. The reason their parent's are getting the divorce is because Karen's parents always fought and cause they didn't love each other anymore. But they both still loved there children. She doesn't want her parents to get the divorce, so she tries to stop them from getting the divorce. She tries all different things to stop it. She met a new friend whose parents got a divorced already and she tries to tell her that there is nothing to do but she doesn't believe her. Also the grandpa didn't want them to get the divorce because no one in the family has got a divorce. Doe the parent's get the divorce or do they stay together? Also does her friend tell her the truth that there is nothing you can do? What do you think? Well if you want to know if she stopped the divorce read the book to find out. I also think people who like books by Judy Blume would like this book. If you read the book called Are you there god? It's Me Margaret; you would like this because it is just like it. Also if your parents are getting a divorce you would like it because it will tell you there isn't much you can do about it. So I think that you should really read this book. It is a great book to read and it catches your attention. You would not be able to put it down. I know this because when I read it and I couldn't put it down because it was such a good book. I know you would like it, so read it for a school project or just for the fun of it.

Summary: True, it's not the end of the world
Review: Judy Blume's IT'S NOT THE END OF THE WORLD is told through the eyes of eleven year-old Karen Newman. She is a younger and older sister, a daughter to two quarreling parents, and a best friend to her pal Debbie. Karen journals each and every day of her life. Alas, it's been awhile since she had the ideal day, an A+ day. That A+ day, everyone was happy. No fighting or arguing between Mr. and Mrs. Newman took place. It was a snow day and even after Karen walked through the front door, drenched, Mrs. Newman wasn't at all angry.

The arguing between Mr. and Mrs. Newman started with the little things. And then it got worse. Dinners grew awkward and Karen feared the worst. Still, when Mr. Newman leaves home, she's sure he'll come back. Won't he? Not according to Karen's brother, Jeff. He says that their dad's gone for good. But Karen is still in denial, especially after her grandfather, her father's father, implies there's a chance of the two reconciling. This just does more to get Karen's hopes up. And when she sees her father's apartment and meets Valerie, a neighbor, she sees that maybe her father does have a new life. Maybe he is starting over. And it's going to be without her mother.

Valerie and Karen become fast friends. Valerie seems to know anything and everything regarding the topic of divorce. She too sides with Jeff, saying that there's no way her parents are getting back together. Still, despite the fact her gorgeous mother is dating a very rich man, Valerie seems unfazed by her parents' split. Hanging with Valerie is a nice change from hanging out with Debbie. World has traveled around the neighborhood about the Newman family split, and Debbie certainly isn't much help in the matter!

Blume's middle grader novel talks of divorce and how it affects a typical suburban family. Despite the fact that Karen is indeed the narrator, we also see how the divorce is hurting Jeff, who at one point, seemed unmoved. Like in all of other Blume books, the characters and situations are real and true-to-life. I especially liked Karen as a person and saw how she went through different stages throughout the book: the sadness of two quarreling and arguing parents, denial when the divorce was announced, and, at last, she begins to face the unfortunate reality she knows she must. This book is one of my fave by Blume and because my parents recently divorced, I took IT'S NOT THE... off my shelf and lent it to my sister, hoping it would maybe help her deal. The fact is, divorce is on the rise and this book is an ideal read for those children who must be forced to face it, like it or not. Just because divorce rates were lower in the 70s doesn't mean this book will have a different effect.

Summary: Optimistic, encouraging, inspiring!
Review: Judy does it again! This book is so real. Sometimes divorce is the BEST thing that can happen to a family. At the time, divorce might be upsetting & Karen's family goes through a "mourning period" as families need to when the parents' marriage ends. But what this book excellently illustrates & that Karen comes to realize, is that divorce does NOT mean the end of a family or a "broken home." She realizes that her mother is much happier & more relaxed, even though her mom cries when she remembers the marriage. One good message I got from the book was that it is better for a kid to grow up in a peaceful single-parent home than a tense two-parent home filled with fighting. Parts of the book are sad, but without being depressing. This book is very uplifting & inspiring the way Karen & her family pick up the pieces, rebuild & by the end, you know they're still a family & will go on.

Summary: It's Not The End Of The World
Review: Karen is an ordinary girl who's parents are going through a very hard time. They always have aguments over really stupid things like about pie, and other stuff too! They are never satisfied with eachother and really don't get along anymore! But karen always try to get them to get back together, and tries her best. It was really hard for her to keep on seeingnher parents unhappy, or depress. It is also very hard for her because she's always moving around. These days she stays wit her dad, the other days she stays with her mom. She really hates moving around, all she wanted is to be in one place living with both of her parents. One wednesday when she was at her dad's, she met a friend name Val, and her parents are the same. Then Val introduced her to a book about divorce, and she read it. It was still alot hard for her. But she finally learned that life is not alwayz what she wants. She actually got used to her parents divorce. I think that this book is very touching. i Feel the same and i understand how she feels because i went through the same thing. But now i know that it's better for your parents, because they don't fight anymore...and when they're seperated, they get what they want, and live the life happier. I give this book a 5, because it's wooondeerful, and touching. I agree with the author, and she's great

Review: Karen's life is so sad. She has a great friend, Debbie. Debbie is always trying to help Karen but she makes it worse. But everything changes in one moment when she notices that her father has moved from the house to Las Vegas to get split with Karen's mother!! The parents don't mean to harm Karen and her brother and sister but they do. Meanwhile Karen has an idea to get her parents back together. What is she going to do? Is her plan going to work? I loved this exicting book every chapter I read got more interesting I couldn't stop reading it and every page I was in Karen's shoes. It made it good because in every chapter you got more nervous in what was going to happen to Karen's family. I recommend this book to anyone who likes to read books about real life and love. I recommend this book because books about real life and love are interesting.

Summary: The best book for children coping with divorce.
Review: Now in my late twenties, I read this book when I was entering fourth grade and I liked very much reading it. Although my parents are still together, there are children, even as adults, dealing with divorce. Karen Newman, the main character of the book, is coping with the unexpected events that are going on during her parents separation. She meets another girl that lives in the same building as her father whose parents are divorced. However, her reaction to her parents' breakup is much different from Karen's. She already knew from an early age that her father's role in her life was a small part. She accepts her mother being a single parent and going back out into the dating scene. Karen eventually gets through and comes to the conclusion that her parents aren't getting back. This is an interesting read not only for children, but for adults as well.
