Rating: Summary: Book Revew on Saturnalia Review: Saturnalia is a great mystery book that takes place in colonial times. In this book the author stabs at humor but sometimes the jokes are corny. Some of theme other people have to explain to me. The book is a short book but if you like mystery books than this is the book for you. Some one is watching William the main character in the book. Can you find out who is watching him before the end of the book? Read it and find out.
Rating: Summary: Saturnalia Review: Saturnalia is a interesting fiction novel about a young Naragansset aprentice named William, who was captured in the King Philip's War.This story talks about colonial times and how William wanted his freedom to know more about his past. What I liked about this story is that its characters are really instersting, I really felt like in colonial times.I would really recommend this book to kids who want to know more about the Colonial times.
Rating: Summary: pretty good book Review: Saturnalia is a pretty good book but the characters were not well detailed and did not come to life. The plot was not very clear and was kind of scrambled. Some good points though were that the transitions were smooth and (some of) the characters were interesting. William, the main character, is caught between his Narraganset past and his life with the Curries. Not to mention Mr. Baggot, the tithingman, who wants to catch him breaking the law. One of my favorite parts was Mr. Hogwood trying to win Madam Phipps heart and Malcolm unintentionally ruining all Mr. Hogwood's attempts at wining her heart.
Rating: Summary: This is a pretty good book Review: Saturnalia is a pretty good book. I think that Saturnalia is a pretty good book because the characters are very fascinating. They are fascinating because they are unique in their own way. The plot was okay but it didn't have very much action in it. The setting takes place in colonial times and that setting I don't think is very interesting. The book is about a Narragansett boy, named William who is trying to look for his past and he gets mest up in a lot of trouble. Overall I thought that the characters were the best part of the book. I wouldn't really recommend this book to anyone but I thought it was a pretty good book.
Rating: Summary: A wonderful book Review: Saturnalia is a rare find. The author writes for young adults
but his appeal is beyond any category. His books are
filled with beautifully-drawn characters and lots of surprises.
Rating: Summary: Saturnalia Review: Saturnalia is a slow moving and boring book. In my opinion I think it's boring because it kind of got confusing when the characters viewpoints switched, so it was hard to know who was narrating the story. The characters are fascinating like William. He is an Indian boy that's an apprentice in a printing shop and a really smart kid that has a good memory. He lives with the Curries, William's English Family, and they treat him with respect. The other great character I liked was Malcolm. He is a man who is lovesick and wants to win the heart of a widowed woman. He tells his apprentice Malcolm to deliver gifts to her, but Malcolm gives the better ones to a heartless serving maid. I really recommend this book to someone who enjoys historical fiction books.
Rating: Summary: Saturnalia Review: Saturnalia is about a boy who came from a Native American tribe and was now a servant in Boston. He faces a self to self conflict as to stay with his nice owners in Boston or escape back to his home tribe. This becomes a hard decision because there ae both pros and cons about each choice. He was a good and the main character in the book, but his problems were not very universal, therefore i couldn't really relate to him, as if i were him and having to make the same choices. It was not a very interest-catching book and never really had anything very fasinating to me in it. It was however, humorous and had some funny characters. This made the story more interesting and you wanted to know what happened next.It would be a good book for people who enjoy historic fiction, about the earlier times in America.
Rating: Summary: Okay. Review: Saturnalia is an exciting book, at some points, but when it gets to descrpitive, it can ruin the fun of reading it. What I liked about it is that there where two plots, one where it is about a servant named Malcom, and his master who try to get a lady that he likes, thats what made it excting then when it swtiched backed to an Indian and he is trying to find his lost brother it got boring. The setting is in colonial times and I didn't really care if it was or not, it wouldn't make that much of a differnce if it was now-a-days times. The characters were the best part of the book, I would say. The ending was pretty excting, but I didnt get how the two plots connected, so it was confusing and I guess too complex. Over all I thought this book was okay, I wouldn't have read this book on my own if I had the choice.
Rating: Summary: Just Plan Boring Review: Saturnalia is an extreamly BORING book because it doesn't get you into the story. There is no point of reading the book unless a teacher forces you and gives you no choice. The only interesting thing about the story are the characters. some of the characters are very funny.
Rating: Summary: Half and half...... Review: Saturnalia is an okay book. It was confusing at times and funny at times. The confusing parts are when the author keeps on switching the thoughts of the characters in the story. And also when the author uses big words that I don't understand. The funny parts are when Malcolm, Mr.Hogwoods apprentice, trades his master's gifts (to Madam Phipps) for a touch of a girls hand, beer, lamb anything that he can get a hold of from a girl. Also when Malcolm and Mr.Hogwood have their arguments. If I was told to read this book on my own I would've read only the first chapter and then put the book down afterwards. The reason I rated this book a 4 is because, the book was not that interesting, like I said before if I was told to read this book on my own then I would've put the book down after the first chapter. But I think the strongest point in this book was the characters. The characters have strong personalities in this book that is what kept me into it. Even if I would've put it down the after the first chapter, it was worth listing to at the end.
