Rating: Summary: A gorgeous, universally appealing novel Review: "Missing Angel Juan" is a beautiful story told in beautiful prose. Although Block's novels are categorized under "young adult," readers of any age will be affected by the main character's learning to let go of what she loves. Block's prose appeals to any age, too: her novel is a string of gorgeous poetry that the reader wishes will never end. "Missing Angel Juan" will fill your head with unexpected poetry and your heart with emotion. This was the first novel that I read by Block, but this was all it took to make me a fan
Rating: Summary: The Tale of Witchbaby and Angel Juan Review: Another Block book that comes in the middle of her Weetzie Bat series, this story focuses on WitchBaby and Angel Juan, two teenagers in love. There are tears, fear, love, romance, sex, drugs, and alcohol in this story, all of which are combined into the most magical plot you will have ever laid eyes on. These two lovers run through New York City, having grown up in Los Angeles, and find many adventures. As you read the Weetzie Bat series, this puts different perspectives into view. Enjoy -- you won't regret reading it.
Rating: Summary: enjoyable continuation of series Review: I have enjoyed the Weetize Bat series of books and this continues Francesca Lia Block's continuation of Magical Realism for young adults, yet continues themes mature enough for adult readers.
Rating: Summary: Reached me in a way no other book has Review: I have read all of the Weetzie Bat books and this is my favorite. Going through loss, fear, consolation, redemption . . . I cried a lot reading it. I have never felt the cathartic pleasure in mayham or disturbance so keenly. I loved it.
Rating: Summary: A FASCINATING EXPERIENCE! Review: I have read and loved all of Block's books, but Missing Angel Juan made the most profound impact on me. This isn't like reading a book, it's an expansion and exploration of the imagination. After finishing the book, it played through my head like a movie. Like a dream you thought was real.
Rating: Summary: More magic from Francesca Lia Block Review: I only gave this book 4 instead of 5 stars because of the fact that I've read it years after it's release. So knowing that it has been the last one for quite some time, I found it a disappointing conclusion to the series. As it was no conclusion at all. Of course, I have no idea if she plans more from the Weetzie Bat gang so that is probably unfair. This book is told from Witch Baby's point of view. The only other main character to have a part in this story is Weetzie. But soon she and the rest of the clan are left back in Shangra-LA when Baby heads to New York. She's on a quest to find her true love, Angel Juan after he leaves to find himself, making music alone. While there she meets an important family member who helps her along the way. Left with bazaar clues she feels a real urgency to find Angel, sensing he is in danger. Block's wonderful descriptions are as strong here as ever but the setting is darker and more disturbing than the usual sunny LA. Maybe it's just me but I slightly preferred the happy surroundings.
Rating: Summary: enjoyable continuation of series Review: I read the book "Missing Angel Juan." This book was excellent. Even though at times the book was hard to understand, the point that the author was trying to get across was very clear. This book was the type of book that to understand it you would need to read between the lines a little. This book I would recommend for the above average reader. The book might be too dificult to understand and grasp the idea for the lesser reader. I would also recommend it for the higher grade reader because some of the contentmight not be appropriate for the younger reader. The book was very well written and it was very descriptive and imaginative. The book is about the main char-acter, Nina Bruja asshe is called, in search of her boyfriend who went away for a while Angel Juan. Her journey lads her to the mystic palace of New York. Along the way, she is reunited with family members, and almost-almost family members. While in search for Angel Juan in New York, she encounters, ghosts, weird mannequins, drugs and cigarettes. Through all of the distractions presented to her, will she ever find her love Angel Juan? Will she ever see him again? You will have to read the book to find out. This book is somewhat of a parody of "Romeo and Juliet," with little twists and turns along the way, especially at the end. I highly recommend this book to anyonewho likes a little romance, and A GREAT BOOK!

Rating: Summary: it lacked of real life. Review: Missing Angel Juan is a book about two lovers, one looking for the other one. The story revolves around Angel Juan and Witchbaby, but then one dissapears and then the story turns to only Witchbaby. These two characters are musicians who are trying to figure out their future. The setting takes place in the suburbian streets of a down town neiborhood. Somewhere along the story these two lovers got seperated and only one thing will bring them together again. Witchbaby and her roomate Weetzie recieved out of the blue sky a postcard from New York. It was from Angel Juan, Witchbaby who was so deeply in love decided to go to New york and look for him. At New York Witchbaby meets a friend that would be the key part in the story. This individual is already dead and only Witchbaby can see him or talk to him. Witchbaby realzing that New York is a very big place, she starts to go to all the places where Angel Juan and her had shared a feeling or an event. In this book faith, love desperation, dedication and perseverance will once more re-unite these two lovers. I'm not a reader, I do not enjoy reading books, so basically I didn't like the book. It lacked of many requirements for choosing a book. The story is hard to follow, no sense of humor, it bagan very realistic and then it lost it's course. I hated the ending because I didn't expect and because it's lausy. This book has not changed my mind about reading, but it's missing some reality to the plot and ending, for example Witchbaby was able to see and talk to spirits. My comments are based in what I think about this book, now, I'm not a writter and don't want to offend the author.
Rating: Summary: loved loved loved this book Review: Missing Angel Juan is easily my favorite Francesca Lia Block book. i loved witch baby from the moment i first read about her, way back in Weetzie Bat. i enjoyed watching her grow, and now her story of love, lonlieness, and redemption takes center stage, in this beautifully written book. her feelings of loss over angel juan's departure are easy to relate to, as is her restlessness in a city of dangerous angels. her exodus to new york is both transcendant and haunting, and left me both satisfied and shaken. perhaps the most disturbing aspect of the book is the character Cake, if only because such a thing could really happen. in all, it's one of the best books i've ever read, though far too short, and it left me screaming out for more, though grateful that i'd had the privelege of reading it.
