Summary: 17 Years Later...
Review: I first read this in 1984, when I was thirteen. I last read it in July 2001, when I was thirty. I couldn't count the times in bewteen. At thirteen, Julian Thompson showed me that books for teenagers didn't have to be kid-stuff. The writing is powerful and swift. I still have my original tattered, dog-eared copy, which I just loaned to my fourteen year old step-daughter. The term "loaned" was not used loosely--I want this one back. Buy it for your kids, but be sure you read it first.

Summary: Fantastic book that you'll read and re-read
Review: I got this book when it originally came out in 1983. I was twelve, and "Group Six" completely bowled me over. I had never before read a "young adult" book with such style, wit, and depth of characterization. In re-reading the book now, as an adult, I am still deeply impressed by it. The tone is never condescending, the humor is full-throated, and the characters are still as vivid for me as they were more than fifteen years ago. Some books just get better as the years go by, and this is one of them.

Summary: A well-written, thought provoking novel
Review: I have read this book at least fifty times, and it's one of which I never tire. I have recommended it to countless friends and have received only favorable comments. Despite the far-fetched (hopefully!) story, the teenaged characters are very real, as are the struggles they face. When I was twelve, I wanted to have them all as my best friends.

Review: I loved this book. It was truly amazing. I felt that the author put so much emotion into it I actually got caught up in the characters lives so much so that I could not put the book down!! This is one of the best books I have ever read and I think that I liked it so much because of it was in touch with reality during such an unimaginable subject

Summary: Striking. This is a book that will stay with you.
Review: I read it years and years ago and lost the paperback version I had. Suddenly one day I just needed to re-read it, and was delighted to find that it had been re-released in hardback. :) The story line is what makes this book special--I've never read a book with a similar concept. Also, you can relate to the characters, there's a little bit of them in all of us; each character has a distinct personality, slightly reminscient of the characters from "The Breakfast Club." I highly recommend it to anyone, teen or not.

Summary: This book is one that you will want to keep for your kids.
Review: I read this book as a teenager myself, and it is one that I am glad that I have kept. The emotions that the teenagers go through are some that children of all ages must learn to interpret and use in everyday life...

Summary: makes an impression
Review: I read this book back in the 80s when i was in junior high and I loved it. I lost my copy of it, and was dismayed to discover that it was out of print. I'm so happy it's been rereleased and I can finally read it again. I loved the story, the characters and the dialogue. I also highly recommend "A Question of Survival," although I think it is now out of print. Too bad, in addition to being great fun, it totally captures what it was like to grow up in the Cold War-Reagan years. Hard to believe that only 15 years ago people were still taking the nuclear threat that seriously.
