Review: This is definitly one of the best books I've ever read. I just couldn't predict the ending, but I just couldn't put it down. I can really relate to the way Nyle feels when Ezra shows up. But the way Ezra started getting better because of Nyle made the book so intense. All in all I think that this book is fantastic from the first word to the last.

Review: Nyle , a 13-year-old girl lives with Gran in New England on a sheep farm. It was a nice place to live, besides the bully next door. Atleast Nyle thought it was, until the nuclear power plant explosion in the nearby town of Cookshire. Though Nyle thought this accident would only be bad for her, it ended up being a major emotional growth, and a heart-warming experience. Gran invites two evacuees to live with her and Nyle until they get better. The boy is sick. His father died in the explosion, and now the boy, Ezra, is dying also. His mother, Mrs. Trent, sits by his bed everyday. He gets better and then worse like a phoenix bird burning and then rising from its ashes. Nyle becomes close to Ezra and faces the consequences and rewards of it. I think this book was wonderful and recommend it to kids and adults. It was inspirational and heart-warming. Hesse put the thoughts of an adolescent into a very realistic character. The plot and emotions were also realistic. Hesse did a wonderful job describing the scenery.

Summary: A Touching Story for Children
Review: The streets of Boston are silent. The city is still. People in surrounding areas live in fear of radiation poisoning, donning gauze masks before daring to walk outside. On a small Vermont sheep farm, 13-year-old Nyle is faced with adjusting her life around this tragedy in the novel Phoenix Rising by Karen Hesse. When her grandmother decides to take in Ezra Trent and his mother, evacuees of the explosion, Nyle works through her fears of death and helps Ezra recover from severe radiation sickness. As the bond between Nyle and Ezra grows, so does Nyle's understanding of human relationships. She learns to care and love, and eventually let go. Having Nyle narrate throughout the novel, Hesse allows the reader to gaze deeply into the emotionally maturing mind of this adolescent girl. We are given insight into her complex feelings for both Muncie and Ezra and are able to follow along as these feelings change through the course of the novel. Hesse provides each of the central characters with dynamic personalities, resulting in a more believable story. The chronological plot is very easy to follow for its intended age group (9-12), and although the story moves slowly, Hesse's use of foreshadowing and suspense will keep the reader involved. Due to some violence and vivid details of radiation sickness, readers may find some parts of the story objectionable. On the whole, however, Phoenix Rising, will appeal to both the avid reader of science fiction as well as those less familiar to the genre.

Review: If you only read one book this year, read Phoenix Rising. I absoutley loved this book. I read it in 2 days. It is the best book. Buy this book. It is a must have

Summary: SOOOOOOO SAD
Review: I thought this was the sadest book ever. I had no idea what this book was about. My mom gave it to me so I started to read it. I got so into it. Even though I am not finished I know I will really like it. So far my favorite part is when Ezra refused to take the dog because he thought it had radiation. I really want to find out what happens to Ezra. I hope lives. I think Nyle REALLY likes Ezra. I wonder if Muncie and Nyle are going to still be friends if and when she finds out about Ezra. I think kids of all ages would love this book. It shows you what it is like to live in touph times. I think this will be a book i will remember for the rest of my life. Review: This book is awesome! I was kinda cautious of it when I saw it at the library, (a girl on a sheep farm battling radiation? ) but I'm glad I got it in the end. The book touched me a lot, and I would highly recomend it to anyone.

Review: I am 14 and I am in the middle of reading Phoenix Rising! I think it's very well writen, and should be given 5 stars. Although I am in the middle, near end of the book, I can already say that it's a have to read book!

Review: I would recommend this book because it had an influence to never give up. This book's ending sounds like the story will never end. The story has an impact on life I think that Ezra and Nyle were the biggest influences I think that are in the book. I think that out of 10 I would give the book an 8 because there was a different problem or a clue to what is happening in the book. (Ezra is doing well with the exception of not wanting the puppy that I had got him. He would always tell me things about his dog but then when he saw the little puppies eyes he had refused to let the dog near him. But when he had gotten the dog in his arms for the first time he had turned a pale color. A couple days after he was put into a cancer ward and that is where for the last time when he had ever talked again. )

Review: This book is well worth reading. I could not put this book down and read it all in one night. It is absolutely wonderful.
