Summary: Best book ever!!
Review: I loved this book, it was packed with action, intensity, suspense, and a little romance too! The idea was totaly cool! I cried at the end of the book and it was a huge helper for me because I have the game for my CPU. Hats off to Alan Dean Foster, and all the workers at LucasArts!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: One of the better I've read
Review: I read this book in the bigining of the year, and couldn't put it down. I like the way it was writen and the context. I would recomend this book to almost every one.

Summary: What Happened?
Review: I thought he could have done alot better in the writing of this book. The story line seemed like it was created by a average joe than the Foster we have come to know. It was to elementry in story line and did not seem to want to move with the flow. This is the reason i gave it 1 star. Come on Foster, i know that there is better work than that in you.

Summary: Very exciting. Imagine being on a planet like Cocytus!
Review: I thought this book to be quite excellent. Most books are boring to me in the beginning but this book was somehow different... I really felt like I was sharing what Low felt. And to have Spielberg's name in there...and Lucasarts to create I computer game based on the book I say, Three cheers!

Summary: Great book
Review: I thought this was a really good book. The plot was great, and the scenes and settings were too. This book was an alien encounter book with puzzles. To the reviewer who thought that this book was very similar to a computer should perhaps know that the book is based on a computer game. The game was also pretty good.

Summary: If only they made this into a film...
Review: Let me start by saying I played the game when it first came out and fell in love with it instantly. The story was original, the music was great and the beauty and menace of Cocytus was something to behold. Scenes with the psychopathic Brink were great and the Cocytan creator's dialogue sent chills down my spine. I almost had tears in my eyes when the game finally came to a close. If this were made into a movie, it has the potential to be a classic.

Now, down to the book. I like Alan Dean Foster's work and I've been pleasantly surprised by his work in the past, but this book changed a few things from the game that lost it a few points in my mind. Boston and Maggie]s roles have been reversed. Boston is no longer the joker and teaser of the party, Maggie is. The character of Brink no longer goes crazy over the crystals, he is much more subdued which worked against the tension of the story. The beauty of Cocytus felt somewhat diminished as well. Apart from that, the book is certainly worth a read if you want to get a little more background of the game.

I will be very disappointed if Steven Spielberg doesn't get around to making this one day. I'm not usually a fan of his work, but he did a great job on "Minority Report" last year, and I'm convinced he could do great justice to this tale. It has the potential to be timeless.

Summary: The Dig is a fresh alternative to other sci-fi books
Review: The Dig is a great book about a group of astronatuts who go into space to investigate a meteor that has wandered into the Earth's orbit. Three members of the team venture inside the object and discover that it is no meteor, it is an object used for interstellular travel. The crew eventualy finds themselves stranded on an alien planet with no idea how to get home. The book revolves around the crew solving puzzles that will give them more information on how to get home. The Dig was a great book full of action and plot twists to keep everything fresh and new. I highly reccomend it to all readers.

Summary: Would make a great movie!
Review: This audio was very interesting and a great story, however the abridgement cut the story too short. Anyway, the material they do present is good and the background sounds and music are a major piece of this good audio...

Summary: Camarillo student Digs this book.
Review: This book is a nice piece of science-fiction. The Dig has all the characteristics of a space opera with enough information to keep your feet on the ground along with enough mysterie to keep you holding the book in your hands instead of putting it down for a break everyonce and a while. However there was one draw back, this entire book was based on a computer game! I played the game befor I read the book and I ended up with not enough surprise to keep my eyelids open, The entire expierence was almost ruined for me if it wasn't for Foster's originality. I would recomend this book for whoever hasn't played the game. It is a very mysterious novel that is definately a five-star. I hope I see more of Alan Dean Foster.
