Summary: I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO PROFOUNDLY AFFECTED BY A BOOK!
Review: I have read GIRL POWER like four times now and can't get enough. Just to hear these grrls speak out and share their lives at such a deep level, gets me to my core. I so related to what each and every grrl was/is going through and some are girls I would never even talk to before. The author did such an amazing job of collecting writings from so many different kinds of grrls and she's done such a service because if I see some of these girls in a different light (like gang girls and sorority girls) I'm sure everyone who reads this book will too. This is my life and no book has ever spoken to me so clearly before.

Review: I read Hillary's book, Girl Power, three years ago, and it remains to be one of my most prized possessions. I carried around for a year like a dog-eared bible. I still use it on a regular basis for reference and inspiration. Girl Power was a source of much empowerment and innovation for me. It's rare to find a book made for girls that discusses more than the develpment of our bodies, without belittling our intellegence, and while still speaking honostly for our experiences. Hillary Carlip and the girls in this book are incredible for what they were able to create.

Summary: STILL RELEVANT AND POWERFUL
Review: OK, I read this book when it first came out in 1995 and I was 15 years old. Now I'm 23 and I just found it on my shelf when I was moving and decided to read it again. I was blown away by how relevant it still is! The author did an incredible job of collecting writings from all different kinds of teenage girls and weaving in her observations. Every time I feel like I'm judging another girl or feeling intolerent, all I have to do is pick up Girl Power and read it again. It still rocks!
