Rating: Summary: Girl Power changed my life Review: A friend of mine recommended "Girl Power" to me because I am an aspiring writer. But it became so much more to me. It is a sort of pseudo-Bible. It opened my mind to the fact that no 2 girls are the same, even though they are stereotyped as "sorority chicks" or "farm chicks". Hillary got such an incredible group of young women to write the book that you have an enormous variety of people to relate to as you read. The book is a masterpiece. Beyond that, it allowed to me the opportunity to meet Hillary Carlip and start a friendship with one of the biggest influences in my life. Buy the book for anyone you know, especially teenage girls, who need inspiration and encouragement to do whatever they want to do. You won't regret it!

Rating: Summary: BORING & DULL Review: A year ago, I was in a book store, and saw this one on sale, and skimmed through it, and figured it to be okay. Once i finished the second chapter, I started bringing it with me everywhere to read, I just couldn't put it down! I got it mainly to read about the riot grrls (which i noticed another reviewer say too) and all the parts gave good insight to how other girls feel, and that girls, no matter what they do, or how they act, or what they get involved in even, have the same feelings, and the same problems with peers. It was great how they expressed feelings of the "in" crowd, and the "outsiders" too. Who usually look up to or even down on one another, and showed they have the same feelings with pressure, etc.. Most girls, women, have problems with standing up for themselves, have insecurities, give in too often, peer pressure, etc.. and its good to know its not being singled out, its being a human.. and even being normal.
Rating: Summary: Great Read! Especially for teens, and people in their 20's! Review: A year ago, I was in a book store, and saw this one on sale, and skimmed through it, and figured it to be okay. Rating: Summary: A fantastically empowering book for women of all ages Review: All of the women in my household (ages 14 to 45) have read and loved this book. I highly recommend it for younger girls as well as those of us who wish there had been such a book when we were coming of age.
Rating: Summary: What a Steal! Review: As a middle school teacher, I have had 2 copies of this book, and both have been stolen from me. I guess it was that good! Students borrow it and cannot put it down. One of my students stated that she finally felt a connection to someone else. She thought her experiences were unique and nobody would understand. Pursue the theives? Nah! At least they're finally reading!
Rating: Summary: A great book for ALL types of teenage girls Review: Girl Power gives girls a chance to hear what girls of all types are thinking. It gives you more self confidence knowing that other girls go through the same problems as yourself.
Rating: Summary: Finally!! Review: Girl Power is amazing. Hillary Carlip gives these girls the place to fully express their feelings about growing up at such a volatile time. Their writings are saddening, inspiring and informative. This book has the power to ease feelings of isolation in girls becoming women in most every environment.
