Rating: Summary: This was an awsome book! Review: This was a great book! I loved how real it was. It is about Harriet Hemings, rumored to be the daughter of Thomas Jefferson, who had to decide whether to go into the white world or stay a slave in Monticello, the only place she had ever loved.
Rating: Summary: This was a wonderful and intriguing book Review: This was a wonderful and intriguing book. It was cliffhanging in certain places. This book is about beautiful, well protected Harriet Hemmings. It is rumored that she might be more than the slave of famous Thomas Jefferson: she might be his daughter. She goes through the difficulties of deciding whether to pass as a white, and leave behind her family, her only home, and her skin color. Rinaldi doesn't play up Jefferson but instead she portrays him as a ordinary man with good and bad places in his character. I learned an interesting side of Thomas Jefferson and his family (black and white).
Rating: Summary: Extremely thought-provoking! Review: I thouroughly enjoyed the new take on the story of Thomas Jefferson and Sally Hemmings. It doesn't portray Jefferson as a bad person, but brings his character to the same level as ordinary people. This book is so thouroughly researched, I'm ashamed that I have to complain of the cover picture: Harriet (or any girl of the early 18th century) would be wearing clothes of the empire style, not the stiff, corseted getup it shows her in.
Rating: Summary: Every girl HAS to read this book! Review: This was the best book, really! I cried at the end and couldn't believe how strong the character, Harriet, was. All I know is I could never have done what she did, for it takes incredible strength. This story is very heartfelt and loving, about a young women who decides who she is and what she wants to be. Everyone who loves touching stories filled with emotion, read this book!
Rating: Summary: Good for class reading Review: This is a well written book. It's packed with historical information. Great for a class book project. I enjoyed reading this book.
Rating: Summary: Great for book reports Review: I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I especially recommend this book for a book report ... there are so many plots, themes and morals to discuss. It was a bit slow in the beginning, but it is a great book otherwise!
Rating: Summary: I love Thomas Jefferson, NOW! Review: This is book is amazing. It made me laugh, cry, smile, and do tons of other things. This book is totally the most amazing book that Ann Rinaldi has every written.
Rating: Summary: I loved it Review: Wolf by the Ears was the first book I read by Ann Rinaldi. I never got as sad as I did when I read her book. I've never cried when I read a book and I really cried when I read that one!
Rating: Summary: I Couldn't Put it Down Review: In one word I would describe this book as terrific! I was mesmerized by the suspense, quality, and amazing storyline of this book! It was my second book by Rinaldi and now I am completly hooked on her wonderful writing. (I am currently reading "The Fifth of March" by Rinaldi) I can not even think of enough good things to say about "Wolf By The Ears". I loved it, and have reccomended it to many of my close friends. Now I am reccomending it to you. It's Great!
