Rating: Summary: A Grand Epic of Time Review: "The Eye of The World" begins Robert Jordan's epic of a single man (Rand al'Thor) as the savior\destroyer of the most realistic world I've ever read. The series is now 8 books long, averaging around 500-600 pages\book! While this may seem a huge reading chore to some, those who love to read will enjoy the incredible detail and richly complex narration of the characters. "The Eye of the World" is, in my opinion, one of the best of the "Wheel of Time" series. The only thing that keeps it from 5 stars is a long (6-8 chapter) period of time where little happens (ie, the characters travel from one city to another). This book and series compares to Tolkien in how popular it has become. Read it.
Rating: Summary: Best I Have ever read Review: I am only twelve years old, and at first I was reading as anovel of my choice in school. At first I just thought it would be like a joke , but after I began reading I found that even though there were some chapters that I didn't understand, it was page for page the best book I have ever read. Unlike other books it is fast paced and exciting, I'd like to continue reading more Robert Jordan books but have found that they are always checked out at our local library. It was an audacious story that I would recommend to anyone that likes to stretch their limits. You also need a lot of time on your hands, it took me three weeks. The only problem is the fact that as soon as I started I could lay there for six hours completely oblivious to whats going on around me. Its a real good book and I suggest that you read it.
Rating: Summary: This book was the best book I have ever read!!! Review: If you read just one book in your lives, read this, I can't believe that others can say it was badly written!!!Tolkien could never do what Jordan has done for fantasy. The vigor and passion in the descriptions make it seem like you are actually riding alongside Rand and his friends.I love this book. The writing of Robert Jordan is very detailed and never drags on, this book is interesting and exciting from the beginning. No one can expect a book to start with a fight scene, character details are what the reader needs to know in order to bond and identify with the characters. Read this book!!!!!
Rating: Summary: To save you some time. Review: This is a good attempt to recreate the works of Tolkien, if you want fantasy on a grand scale, do yourself a favor and read tolkien. Please don't read thousands and thousands of pages to find this out yourself. The story goes on way to long, about 8 books all 700 pages long. Just read Tolkien you will be much more pleased.
Rating: Summary: To me, the best is the first Review: This book has all the magic, mystery, suspense and everything else that you would want from a major fantasy epic. If you don't feel like reading the entire series, at least check out the first book. I could not put this book down! A very good read.
Rating: Summary: Fun Review: The beginning was a little slow, but as you get to know the characters, you learn to love most of them. There is wonderful use of forshadowing, in this book especially, and I only have one criticism. This is totally a male fantasy. This theme of hormones (yes hormones, not necessarily love on the guy's part) begins to run a lot deeper in the later books, and is somewhat annoying to us female readers, but overall it is a fun read. It goes by fast, adn you really get to know all of the characters. Don't be daunted by the size of the book it is a fast and enjoyable read!
Rating: Summary: Whaddaya mean it's not Shakespeare! Review: Following Rand 'althor across his world in the ultimate quest was a wonderful experience. This book had more imagination on one page than many novels have in entirety. It starts a little slow--in fact, nothing happens for 84 pages until a monster (Turlock?)comes through the door. But once the story gets rolling--WOW! Great fun. Now for the complaint. The covers come off of my Jordan novles after about 125 pages. Doesn't this pulisher have any glue? I have this problem with no one except TOR. Anyone else?
Rating: Summary: Three Words Review: Stick with Tolkien
Rating: Summary: The Best Book Ever! Review: One thing is for certian, that this book is THE BEST ever. The characters seemed so real and the world was so well described that it was like you were really there. The whole plot of the story was spectacular. If there was one book that I would ever recomend to someone, it would have to be this one!
Rating: Summary: TOTALLY AWESOME Review: all fantasy readers should love this. if you didn't because you said it was too long.. i say the longer the better... wish there were a million in this series.. i definitly wouldn't tire of them. they may be your typical fantasys, but, they are also more. about halfway through the first book, you find yourself taking sides, and feeling what the characters are experiencing. in the great hunt i was stricken at what the al-dam do to their damane, and was calling for revenge. nomatter how long these books, read them!!!
