Summary: I need to get this out.
Review: I have been reading some of the reviews( only the bad ones) and discovered that anyone who gave it a poor rating has not read the entire series. I only read the bad reviews because I have read the entire series and must know if their is a reason to complain about this wonderfully written series. In the beginning even I must admit that some of the complaints people have offered are valid and even I had some of the very same complaints. If you quit there though you will be missing one of the best series I have read. As the story progresses the characters become deep the story more alive and you feel that you have bonded with the characters themselves. The line of story progression becomes more eractic and less of them being attacked by Trollocs and running away. Mat, Perrin, and Rand go off and pursue their own goals for a while and are not even in the same parts of the world. But nearer to book 8 and 9 the peices just start coming into place. It is like sewing a quilt the peices are weaved, but still don't look like the should go together. All that is required to complete the quilt is one weaver and many threads that bond the peices together until you can never tell that they were apart. I believe that Jordan is such a weaver and that the peices will come together into one huge masterfull constructed "quilt," if you will, and any who stop a quilt after one square will never get to warm yourself knowing that Mat is General, that Perrin is a Lord, and that Rand is Ruler of the Aeil Waste. Do not give up with the beginning, for every great epic has one, and it may be slow, but as you travel down the story it becomes more real than you would have thought. So, I ask any who have quit after the first or second book continue, for you will never have missed a greater epic than this one.

Summary: The start of the BEST series EVER!!
Review: This is the beginning of the best series i've ever written. I've read a few other ppls reviews, talking about lack of plot and character development, that is probably because they haven't read any other book from the series. This book by itself may not be the best ever, but it is just part 1 of the best series ever. If you decide you don't like this book, i'd like to see how much you change your mind about what this book doesn't do when you read the whole series. This is only chapter 1....

Review: This book is just the best there is. You get attached to the characters right off and it is very creative. I would recommend this book to anybody who likes fantasy books that are incredibly long. After you read this book you will be dying to read the sequel.

Summary: The begining of a masterpiece
Review: This book is the start of the best fantasy series ever. The characters are described wonderfully, granted that they don't develop too much, but hey who wants to read a book that change the characters so much that you don't recognize them on the next page? Anybody who has read through this book and says they don't like it must not have understood it. After I read the wheel of time series I tried reading other series, but they just weren't the same. The only other series I even 1/2 way liked was Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth series. I'm definatly looking forward to book 9.

Summary: ONE DIMENSIONAL CRAP!!!!
Review: This book sure does use alot of words to convey nothing. A bunch of kids set out on a journey with some sort of sorceress and her bodyguard. They gett attacked by trollocs, get split up, then get attacked by trollocs some more, then run some more. yada yada yada. The is very little character development. Mat Perrin and Rand may as well be the same person. It wouldn't make much difference in the story. Egwene and Nynaeve and Moraine are the same too. Lan could have been interesting but instead he is just wallpaper. I was expecting so much more from this book. Unless you like reading countless numbers of words that do not culminate into anything meaningful do not read this book. A monumental waste of time!

Summary: Creative, but terrible writing
Review: I loved the book. It was a great story. But Robert Jordan, despite his creativity, is a terrible writer! I think he needs a better editor. He made numerous grammer mistakes, the most noticable of which was his tendancy to quote two people in the same paragraph. Another horrifying error was when, on two seperate occations, he used the exact same thing twice, as if he forgot he had already written it. First, sometime after Rand and Mat left Whitebridge, a farmer gave them some wool scarves. Read what he says closely. Later, a bit before Caemlyn, a farmer gives them some wool scarves, like they didn't already have some, and he says the exact same thing as the first one. "I don't know what you're running from, and I don't want to. You understand? My family."...(gives them the scarves)..."It's not much, but here. Belong to my boys. They have others. You don't know me, understand? It's hard times." That is exactly the same as the first one. Then he used a name, Hyam Kinch, at two different times, and both times he dropped them off with the next town being Carysford, even though it wasn't the first time. Other than those mistakes, it was a great book, and I encourage everyone to read it anyways.

Review: I read this book at the suggestion of a friend. I am not a Fantasy fan, though I did read the entire Tolkien trilogy and got involved enough to learn how to write Quenyan in college. Comparatively, Eye of the World is thin, it just looks thick. There is no actual development in plot or characters, just a very long chase scene over many, many chapters. It would be more aptly titled "How to Take a Simple Plot Idea and Make it Last for 500 Pages". Though, to be fair, if one is young in the world, it probably would be an entertaining read. But I'm afraid that once one hits his/her late twenties, life hardens one's tolerance for such fluff.

Summary: If you haven't read this book then this review is for you
Review: THE WEEL OF TIME is not a simple story, it's an EPIC with a capital E. The weel of time is, in reality, just a small opening for a grand adventure that will probably take your breath away if you have what it takes to last through the series. This book is something to set the mood, something to lure you into the world of Robert Jordan and as such it does it's job well. It has elements of suspence, romance, fate, danger, love, hate, everything to draw you into a story bigger than life, but remember this is only the beginning.Some readers of THE WEEL OF TIME series do not have the stamina or patience to see this series through until the end or so it apperars if you read the reviews for the latest book. If you think you are one of those readers (there are eight books out now and together they hold about 7000 pages) you should NOT touch this masterpiece. If, on the other hand, you think you can hold on for the ride then this book is something you will learn to adore. An intro to an epic saga is not all this book holds. It also shows us a talent that is rare in todays writers. Robert Jordan writes a saga that everyone can relate to in some way because our own religion, our myths and legends are, in many cases, similar to the reality that is in THE WEEL OF TIME series and this first book does well in capturing that similarity. The story of a boy born to fight the ultimate evil, not knowing or wanting to be what he is. A tale of a man that has fought this battle once before (at least) to save mankind from damnation and gave his life for it. Rings a bell ? Ever heard of the second coming ? This is just one of those similar situations that Jordan shows us. This is what makes this EPIC saga so compelling and so thrilling. We, the readers, can relate to the story, maybe not all in the same way but it has something for all of us. Robert Jordan has begun the best series of fantasy books ever written. Remember that if you decide to give up after seven or eight books. Remember theese lines, take a deep breath, recapture your patience and read on....
