Rating: Summary: It is a good book Review: I just had to comment that everyone who rated WOT books less than 6 called themselves 'A Reader'. Kind of says something about the kind of people who don't like these books.
Rating: Summary: This book was da' bomb Review: From the moment I read the first word to the time I put it down, I was enthralled with this book. It takes me back to the first time I read Tolkien's the Lord of the Rings series. The characters were very defined and each was described in depth. The enemies were as evil as they came and twice as devious. This book was also incredibly long, something I love since I rarely want a good book to end and this was a GREAT book. Rand was a great if cautious hero and I loved Perrin with his ability to tallk to the wolves. I also enjoyed the characters that were an inhibition to the heroes, such as the Children of the Light, or a help to the characters such as Thom and the Ex-Warder who talks to the wolves. If you have not read this book, buy it and read it immeadiately. One warning, once you start, it is like Sebastian in The Neverending Story, that is, it is impossible to put down.
Rating: Summary: Many misguided readers... Review: All of those who have referred to this book (or any one of Jordan's novels) as the best they have ever read have quite obviously read very few books. It is an average fantasy novel that is part of a seemingly endless series that is less than mediocre.
Rating: Summary: If you are literate, READ THIS!!! Review: If you can read, at all, you should read this book, as well as the whole WoT series. Jordan creates an elegant tapestry of adventure, mystery, magic and politics that produces, in my opinion, one of the best reads in all of history. If you think it gets boring, wait. It will definitely get better. The series is nothing short of magnificent.
Rating: Summary: really stands out Review: It is the best fantasy book I have ever read, it beats his later books by far. The story is original with characters that have a great deal of depth to them which makes a change to some other books where the characters are very flat. A book with a difference.
Rating: Summary: Epic fantasy with the flair of Dune. Review: The Eye of the World is a thick book, but a quick read. The characters seem very real, but Jordan builds up a good plot, it fizzles out; then you can't wait to read the next book in the series. Jordan has an eye for detail. If you don't like somewhat slow and detailed books you shouldn't read this. Jordan tends to be long winded on their journeys. And the Aes Sedai remind me to much of the Druids from Terry Brook's Shannara series. Over all The Eye of the World is a good read. Enjoy!
Rating: Summary: Nothing but the best.... Review: The Wheel of Time series (of which this book starts) is, in all honesty, the BEST fantasy series I have ever read. I am tempted to say that I wish I had written it myself, but I will not, because now I have the pleasure of reading it and waiting on the edge of my seat impatiently for the coming books. Get your hands on a copy of this book and the ones that follow, you won't be dissapointed. -Bleys de Whyl
Rating: Summary: what I think of the wheel of time, book 1 Review: Robert Jordan captures your interest at the start of this story with little things, for example, a mysterious cloaked stranger, or a rather vague woman posing as a Lady who has come into the small town of Emond's Field "coincidentialy" at the time of celebration... Well, the action starts right after this, but dies down agian to a low simmer. Three friends escape from chaos on the night of the celebration but are separated. They must find one another; the book slows down a bit here, but lots of interesting things happen -one character (Mat) steals a dagger, unknowing that it is cursed- stuff like that. Eventually the characters find eachother but are unsure what to do. The Lady (remember at the start) steps in. She "Suggests" they go to a stronghold at the edge of a place called The Blight. Located in The Blight is a place called The Eye of the World. This is where the ending takes place. All I will say about it is that it is the BEST prolouge I have ever seen, but telling you would tak
Rating: Summary: Can't put it down!!! Review: I love these books. I have read two books of the series so far. It addresses the big issues. The scope is epic. Nearly every moment is a critical gripping adventure.
Rating: Summary: modern masterpiece of fantasy Review: without a doubt the greatest fantasy epic of all time. starts out slow ut after a 100 pages or so you can't put the book down. I just hope that Mr. Jordan is in good health so that he can finish this fantastic story. my only regret is the anticipation at waiting for the next book in the series to be published.
