Summary: Overrated and Disappointing
Review: Although the beginning was a bit slow, I stuck with "The Eye of the World" and continued reading, hoping the story would eventually pick up. It didn't. Robert Jordan's eye for detail is the only positive element of this book. The story dragged on and on (too wordy!), I couldn't relate to any of the characters (frankly, I didn't care if Darkfriends bashed Rand's head in with a club), and there was no drama or suspense whatsoever (I knew what was going to happen a chapter before it did). The "climax" at the end was pathetic and not a climax at all. Read it if you have absolutely nothing else to do in your spare time.

Summary: the best book jordan has written, in my opinion.
Review: Jordan, in this book, shows the beginning of a seemingly endless series of books known as the Wheel of Time series. Though I love this book and im planning on reading ALL of the others i wouldnt recommend this book to someone who isnt ready to follow a series by a man who will still be writing on his death-bed (but i hope it doesnt come to that, please dont plan on dying soon Mr. Jordan) people who have a short attention span couldnt have even read the first book but for those i HAVE recommended it to they have thanked me and recommended it to thier friends and acquaintances.

Summary: Best Book I will ever read in this lifetime
Review: This book captures the heart of the mind in a world of evil shadowspawn, and brave warriors. He seems to bring alive each character individually and develope the worlds, walls, and attidutes that they each exist within. Robert Jordan will most certainly win many awards for his great accomplishment as a writer, for no other book that I have read, has so fully intruged and tingled my imagination such as this book.

I only Have one more thing to say.....thank god there are more books to come.

Summary: Easily the best fantasy series yet.
Review: It is true that Jordan's description of things sometimes gets boring. But if you focus on everything else, you'll forget about everything you didn't enjoy.

What makes Robert Jordan's writing so exquisite is that he can create a world of good and evil with believable characters and an exciting plot. This is my HONEST TO GOD opinion! I am not sucking up AT ALL!

In comparison with "The Lord of the Rings", the Eye of the World is much more detailed and described. It is more of an epic than Tolkien's work. Now, don't get me wrong. "The Lord of the Rings" is a beautiful, moving story full of magic and emotion. But it seems to me that Jordan's work is more of a series, while TLotR is more of a huge, single masterpiece.

All in all, The Eye of the World is deeply recommended by me to anyone who is even thinking about attempting to maybe like fantasy.

Summary: A must read
Review: This is probably one of the greatest books ever written. The author really knows what words to use, and when. The characters are really developed and always find themselves in a scary situation. If you haven't read it, get it now

Summary: Robert Jordan - a great collector of other people's ideas..
Review: well, first the nazghul shows up at a sleepy little town, then our hesitant heroes run towards tar valon, in hopes of finding some answers to what fate has decreed. they stop at baerlon (bree), then an abandoned city (mines of moria), only to get split up (don't worry, boromir doesn't die in this one), then the story finally takes a bit of it's own course.

perhaps most annoying is that *every* female is a demanding, irritable witch, and all the males are clueless groveling worms. when i need a fix for that i'll watch home mortgage and long distance calling commercials.

even though the lead character is an invertebrate oaf with no skills of measureable worth; despite the fact that the few interesting objects manage to pull ignorance from the jaws of enlightenment; it is possible to strain a couple good ideas from the book when jordan decides to write his own story. my friends and acquaintances will urge me to read the next in this series, their new religion. i am interested that book 2 may expand the objects of interest in eye of the world.

Tolkien, indeed! hrmph!

Summary: Might start slow, but this book surely picks up!
Review: Eye of the World is an amzing book full with awesome descriptions and stunning characters. Jordan makes you feel like you are watching a movie with his style of writing. You can see everything going on inside of your mind with no effort at all. This book is definately one of the best fantasies ever written and I can't wait for Amazon to ship WOT book 2, The Great Hunt, to my doorstep!

Summary: One of the most enthralling works of fantasy ever written.
Review: In the "Eye of the World" Robert Jordan draws the reader into a world of phenominal detail and magical fantasy that I have not seen since J.R.R. Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings." To put it simply, Jordan has a vision and scope to his writing that goes far beyond what most writers would dare to even imagine. From the beginning, I was enthralled by the character detail and interactions and for thousands of pages to come I would enjoy watching those characters grow and mature before my eyes. As a whole, "The Wheel of Time" is a series that creates its own reality and the more I read, the more frequent my journeys to Jordan's world became. On every page of every book, Jordan delivers with the same rich detail and high excitement that you come to expect after reading the "Eye of the World". I would highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys fantasy as it is a pleasure to read and becomes harder and harder to put down. I eagerly await the next book but at the same time I am sad that this series must end. Jordan's detailed world and dynamic characters will be sorely missed by anyone lucky enough to pick up a copy of the "Eye of the World".

Summary: Judge the series not the book...
Review: Eye of the World is slow. It starts off interesting but it does take a little while to pick up. After I read the first book I was interested enough to read the second... and the third... and fourth.. etc. I've read them all. The series is tied in my heart for best with Raymond E. Feist's Riftwar and other books... It is easily one of the most intricate and captivating fantasy series out there... a definite TEN! But there is A LOT of detail, setting up the plot(s), and character developement.. the transformations the characters go through are AMAZING!! Jordan doesn't carry one or two plots but 7 or 8! If you have patience and enjoy large detailed WORLDS then Jordan is DEFINITELY for you! But if you crave battle after battle then read Feist :) Very different styles equal in quality!
