Rating: Summary: Great Book - has a complex plot, one good for intent readers Review: This book, THE EYE OF THE WORLD, shows an execllent varity in characters, which leads the reader to have more of a feeling that the book is more realistic, even with its not so realistic events. The plot is very complex, and therefore is not good for those readers who are do not want to be to be doing a lot of constant reading. The book is good for those people who have spare time on their hands that will allow them to read for at least one hour a day. One of the few things that I did not like about the book is that it does not any parts of the story from the 'shadows's' (bad people) point of veiw. Again, this is a great book. I recommend it to any one who likes large (many pages) fantasy Novels.
Rating: Summary: Best series Review: Many of my friends and I have read this series (and wait for the coming books with anticipation) the series is by far, if not the best one, of the greatest. One complaint the long wait between books...... Too bad Mr. Jordan spend some much time on other books (Connan, really?)...
Rating: Summary: Had to buy the hardcovers since the paperbacks fell apart! Review: The plot and characters are so detailed that every time I reread this series (and I must reread them all before starting the next new book), I find fresh nuances. The basic storyline is a fairly common theme: young unwilling hero with no option but to leave home to save the world from total destruction while being pursued and persecuted by Evil Minions and sometimes by Trusted Friends, too. What elevates this book, and the series as a whole, from being just another good read to being one of the very best reads is the intricacy and detail. There is an overall BIG PICTURE, several large plots, and many smaller ones. Characters separate (individually and in small groups) from the main hero and each other for varying lengths of time, all the while developing and growing in their own rights, then coming back together for stronger interaction and more realism. What's the most fun part? The glossary! Worth reading in each book because the descriptions change as the characters and plot develop. You can occasionally get a little more information from it to supplement what's in the text. Definitely looking forward to the next book, and to the eventual unraveling of some mysteries and curiosities.
Rating: Summary: A book that knows me better than most of my best friends... Review: This book is a work of art, not only influencing my life in a positive manner, but inspiring me to write. I imagine what Robert Jordan looks like and what he is thinking as he writes these books. It may be just me, but this book strikes a very personal nerve that seems directly related to my soul. I love this book and the 6 that come after it. I have met several people who are awaiting the 8th as anxiously as I. I am not the type of person who likes this type of book, but it has come to be a permanent fixture in my life, helping expand my imagination and creativity. I will probably never be skilled enough to write something as brilliant as this...which doesn't say anything positive about me, but speaks highly of the book...the entire Wheel of Time set.
Rating: Summary: Best SciFi/Fantasy Series Review: A friend forced me to read the first half of The Eye of The World and I haven't stopped reading the series since. It just gets more interesting and exciting the deeper into it I get. I can't wait for the release of Path of Daggers!
Rating: Summary: I loved this book, a very good series for fantacy lovers. Review: Once I started reading this book I didn't want to put it down. Robert Jordan transports you to a place of Heros, demons, and magic. Jordan has an excellent sense of detail. I can't wait to read book eight of this already large and adventurus story. I encourage any reader who wants a nonstop action story to read this book. You'll find hours of enjoyment from these pages.
Rating: Summary: The Best Sci-Fi Book Available Review: The Eye of the World is the first of a series of eight of the best sci-fi books I have ever read. This book introduces you to a world of what your imagination makes it to be, full of characters that you care about and antagonists that spurn a hate in you; that is until you put down the book. This certain book, being the first, has a very different overtone than the others. I cannot explain how without giving too much away, but it is very worthwhile to find out for yourself. Robert Jordan puts Tolkien to shame, and another author of Jordan's caliber may never come along. Seize the opportunity to read this sci-fi masterpiece.
Rating: Summary: He successfully rides the crest between real life & fantasy Review: Jordan creates a world which becomes very believable to the reader. His characters are are as deep as his plot is intricate. He creates a realistic history of a world, rich in tradition, politics and lore. A must read!
Rating: Summary: Look out J.R.R. Tolkein...here comes Robert Jordan!!! Review: Fast action in the beginning and end, lots of extra words used, extremely descriptive and narrative. An excellent first attempt and definately a thumbs up.
Rating: Summary: Undoubtably the best book of the series Review: Robert Jordan sets the standard in this book. He creates a world untouched untill now and continues to excell in it. He created a world as real as ours to the uutmost extreams. You get to know each character and they build throughout the series. It takes me hours to try and explain it to my friends. Jordan sets the structure of the ever popular Wheel of Time series, and after reading it there is no choice but to read the next. I have read this book five times and I still enjoy it every time.
