Summary: Another Fantastic Book from Gail Carson Levine!
Review: The Two Princesses of Bamarre was about Princess Meryl and Princess Addie. Meryl is brave and coragouus, and Addie is shy and fearful. One day, Meryl comes down with the Gray Death, a disease that kills all people who have it. Princess Addie is very scared, but she sets off on a quest to find the cure for the Gray Death. She faced monsters, an evil dragon named Vollys, specters, but Addie did become braver from this quest. The ending is happy, with just one strange little twist. I thought it was very interesting, and it really held my attention. This book was awesome, just like Levine's "Princess Tales" books or "Ella Enchanted"

Summary: A Fantastic Fantasy Adventure : )
Review: This is a very good book, I could'nt put it down! When I finished this book I wanted more. Though it was a very sad ending, if you read it you would love it too, it's a must read! Another book by Gail Carson Levine Is Ella Enchanted

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Read it in a day
Review: Yes, that's right. Yet again I sat down and read a book in one sitting. (Well, actually I got up a couple times, but not for long.) I really enjoyed "The Two Princesses of Bamarre" (obviously!), although the ending was definitely, as the review up there says, bittersweet. Not quite as wonderful as "Ella Enchanted" (which was painful to put down!), but I didn't expect it to be that terrific, and it was pretty darn good. ;-) It deserves more than four stars, but it wasn't QUITE perfect, and four is as high a rating as it'll let me give it other than a five. If I could, I'd give this book four-and-a-half stars. If you love fantasy and fairy tales, I suggest you read this book!

Summary: Plainly Wonderful
Review: I bought this book the day it came out. I just knew that it would be just as wonderful as Ella Enchanted. And I was not at all disappointed. I love the story!!!!! The charactors all have their quirks and such. I think that's why I love them-they're so human. I like the way the story takes you through Addie's triumph of her fears and insecurities. This story is 110% original. This book will stay with me for a VERY long time. I hope I'll be able to pass this stoy on to others.

Summary: A Great Book
Review: When Meryll gets a disease called Gray Death Addie, Meryll's sister, goes looking for the cure. Where ever she went it was adventurous and full of surprises. Towards the end Addie, Meryll, and all sorts of other people battle ogres and gryphons for the cure, but if they make it out; it is up to you to find out. You'll love this book if you like scarry, adventurous, and surprises in your book. This is a hard to put down book once you get into it.

Summary: One of the best books I've ever read
Review: Although many people didn't like this book, I found it very exciting. The main characters may not be completley realistic, but that's why I liked them. Princess Addie was scared of everything until her sister was dying. Then she found courage. That made her realistic to me. Her romance with Rhys was something that I found a nice touch to the book. Although at the end, it might have made her less childlike. You could tell that there would be a romance since the first mention of Rhys. Her father, the king, was very annoying, and one of the only things about the story that I didn't like. I really liked the stanzas of the poem Drualt scattered throughout the story. In conclusion, this book was both exciting and touching, since Addie gives up her fears to save Meryl. I really liked it and will be expecting many more stories from Gail Carson Levine.

Summary: The two princesses of Bamarre
Review: After the rave reviews this book got at amazon.com, I bought it and was expecting nothing short of the next JK Rowling. I was dissapointed. I found the characters a bit flat, the two princesses a bit dense, and the lore of the land superficial. The character I related to most was killed (a dragon) for no good reason. The king is the most irritating character I have encounter for a while. Someone should have assasinated him. I struggled to finish it. The book has absolulty no humor in it. Zero. An unnecessary grim depiction of a fantasy land. This books charm completely eluded me.

Summary: 3.5 stars
Review: This book doesn't match up to Levine's Ella Enchanted. It is filled with magic and certainly is enjoyable, but there is something missing. Elements such as the magic tablecloth and seven-league boots add to the spirit of the novel, and the verses of Drualt included can either spice it up or drag it down, depending on your feelings toward poetry. The characters vary in their believability. Meryl never seemed very real to me, partly because of her extreme bravery and partly because she is never fully developed. Addie, on the other hand, was well-drawn. Rhys doesn't exactly develop through the novel, but he's a likeable character none-the-less. I found the dragon Vollys to be very believable. She, just like anyone else, does things that she regrets, and all she really wants is a friend. Of course, she is a dragon, and that changes her circumstances quite a bit.
I can't pin down why this book wasn't as good as Levine's previous ones. It did lack some of the spark and imagination that Ella Enchanted contained. A few of the imaginative points, like specters, weren't thoroughly explained, and this took away from the appeal of these elements. The romance between Addie and Rhys isn't very convincing. They hardly spend enough time together to fall in love. In addition, their marriage isn't very suitable to the plot. Once Addie becomes married, she looses the childhood innocence that used to make her so likeable. She was afraid of spiders yet risked her life for her sister, and that made her appealing. Next thing you know, she's a married woman, and that changes the reader's perception of her. In Ella Enchanted, we knew Char would marry Ella, but the marriage never actually occurs. As a result, we keep our previous picture of Ella, talking ogres to sleep and plotting against her evil stepsisters, and we never actually have to deal with her marriage. In my opinion, Addie's marriage did a lot of damage to the book, and Ella's would have as well.

I fully expected that this book would have a happy ending. I was surprised by the actual conclusion, but I wasn't satisfied. My understanding of Meryl was shaky through the novel, but in the end I was completely confused. I barely comprehended her insane bravery, and the end knocks you off your feet in terms of understanding the character. Plus, her "romance" is completely unbelievable.
In conclusion, I would suggest this book to girls from ages 9-13 who enjoys fantasy. This age group tends not to over-analyze books, and you once you pick apart this book, it doesn't hold up. I did enjoy it, and I was completely swept up in the novel while I was reading it. However, once I set it down and began to think over the various characters and plot details, the book started to crumble. If you're new to Levine's books, I highly suggest you start with Ella Enchanted or one of the Princess Tales before you read this novel.

Summary: loved it!
Review: this book is one of my absolute favourites! I won't bother explaining the plot (lots of other reviews do that),but i'd just like to say that i loved how this book shows how addie conquers her fears to save her sister, and i LOVED the ending. I know loads of people hated it, coz it's bitter-sweet, but Levine still manages to pull it off leaving me satisfied, but craving for more of her books.
