Summary: A Fantasy That Keeps You Reading
Review: I have read the reviews of other people and I've read different views from each one. Some say it wasn't really good and others say it was the best. I must agree with the ones that say it was a great book. I really enjoyed it and it kept me wanting more and more.The book is about two sisters that adore each other. The older one, Meryl, is the brave one that protects her younger sister Addie. Addie is fearful and shy and is afraid of everything. Meryl wants to save the kingdom of Bamarre while Addie wants to stay in the castle and be safe. Meryl promises Addie she wouldn't leave the castle until she was happily married. Then, Meryl, catches the Gray Death. Addie never thought her sister could stay home and be killed. Thats when Addie got the courage to search for the cure herself, since her father was returning home with nothing for her sister. With the help of a special flower that gives her the heart to go on, given to her by an elf nurse; with a pair of seven-league boots that were left by her mother; with a gown that will help her leave undetected given to her by her governess; and by a cloak, table-cloth, and some maps given to her by a sorcerer she secretly has feelings for, she sets out on an adventure. In her adventure she encounters specters, gryphons, ogres and even dragons. But then, she is caught by a dragon, and she is taken to the dragons lair. There, the dragon tells her the cure for the Gray Death. Finally, Addie escapes the dragons lair (in one piece) and races to her sister's cure. Meryl has only one more night to live so Addie must hurry. With the help of Rhys and some villagers they manage to go to Meryls salvation. With a decleration of love and an unexpected end.... Will the sisters survive THIS battle? What will happen to Rhys? What about the villagers? What about the hero in the epic poem called Drault? What about the fairies? What about the kingdom? What about the dragon? What about the Gray Death? So many questions, only one book! But, you'll find the answers in this wonderful tale about two sisters love and devotion for each other. They have to test their strenght against all the obstacles that come in their path. Meryl has to fight the Gray Death that is eating her life away and Addie has to fight the monsters that are trying to kill her. It is a great book with a little bit of romance and lots of adventure. If you enjoy fantasy stories this will be a great book. It'll be a little hard to put down. :)

Summary: Every Girl's Dream
Review: This book is one of the best books I have read. The way Levine draws you into the story is amazing. To me, this is every girl's dream. Living in a mid-evil world, where there are dragons, princesses, elves, dwarfs... who knows what adventure could take place next. The story of the heoric Princess Meryl falling a victim to the Gray Death and the shy, but brave Princess Addie was extremely inspirational. I find that I am very much like Addie, that my deepest wish is for safety. Though the thought of going on a perilous quest would frighten almost anybody, as it would be to me, I also think it would be exciting. The suspense brings you even closer to the characters. You pray that Addie will find the cure to save her sister. You wish so hard that she finds her way back to Bamarre, and that Addie's highest hopes don't go down the drain. If you've ever found yourself afraid to take a stand, remember Addie, and how she was determined to do whatever it took to keep her sister alive. Let's not forget the handsome sorcerer, Rhys. If you read this book, you'll find out just how big a part he plays in saving Meryl. I praise Levine for her excellent writing skills, and I hope she keeps writing books as extraordinary as this one has been. Happy Reading!!

Summary: this is one of my fav. books
Review: i loved this book. i had skipped two grades and was looking for something to read one day in the new school and i came across this book. i checked it out of the library and read it in 3 hours! it has real depth to it. i liked how addie was always afraid and meryl was always there to help her. this story is about the 2 princesses of bamarre. meryl is like addie's knite, but then meryl gets really sick with grey death. addie has to set out on an adventure to save her sister, battling ogres and dragons, those kind of things. i would tell you the ending, but it would spoil the book, so i hope i left you hanging so you will have to read this excellent novel.

Summary: Gail Carson Levine really does it now!!
Review: I have read a lot of Gail Carson Levine's books, and after Ella Enchanted, I like this one best. The book is about two princesses of the kingdom Bamarre. They are very different -- Princess Addie is fearful and shy; Princess Meryl is bold and brave. Meryl always wants to go on adventures, but Addie doesn't like it when she does. Addie makes Meyrl promise that she won't go on adventures until Addie gets married. Dispite their differences they mean the world to each other. Then Meryl is stricken with the worst sickness ever know -- The Grey Death. Addie, terrified and unprepared, goes on a quest to find the cure. She must battle many different monsters who are in her path. Plus, she has to get back in time to save Meyrl, who's life is dropping by the day... I have to say that Gail Carson Levine really makes a fairy tale good! This book has scary, amusing, and even romantic parts. I reccomend this book to everyone who would like to read a really good fairy tale.

Review: This review is coming to you exactly as I entered it into my english class. I just felt like putting it online. Addie is a normal 16-year-old girl-- that is, if you ignore the fact that she's a princess in a land full of magic and monsters. That and she's afraid of everything from specters to spiders. Princess Adelina and her older sister, Meryl, live in Bamarre Castle. They rarely see their father, a worse coward than Addie. Meryl, inspired by their country's epic poem about the hero Drualt, desires to fight monsters and go on noble quests. She swears, however, to stay at the castle till her sister is wed. Addie is relieved, but when Meryl gets sick with the Gray Death, a deadly disease that is spreading across the country, will Addie leave the safety of Bamarre Castle to save her? Against a backdrop of dragons, sorcerers, missing fairies and forbidden love, Addie must go to great dangers to search for the cure, while trying to keep herself alive. Written by the author of Newbury Award winner Ella Enchanted, I would recommend this to children of all ages-- by years, and in heart. I know, it's a stupid review... but oh, well!(and by the way, I'm 13, not 12)

Summary: It is okay
Review: This book is a good book, however I was a little disappointed. I had trouble deciding whether I should give it a 3 or a 4. The story line and the plot is quite good. But the first like nine chapters (short) were dull and slow moving. Once Addie gets on her adventure it becomes very exciting and I didn't want to put the book down. However it was almost painful to read the beginning chapters. The ending is very good though and I would recommend that you borrow it from a friend or library, because it isn't really worth it to buy. I did love Ella Enchanted (the movie was a disappointment) but the two Princesses was a bit disappointing compared to that one. I was looking foward to reading it but I was let down.

Review: I'll admit--I'm not big on fantasies. Especially ones with gryphons, dragons, ogres, and specters. I'm more into realistic fiction. But this book changed the way I felt about fantasies. I only read it because it was a gift from my uncle, and it would please him to see me actually reading it rather than hiding it in the way back of my closet like I usually do. I just finished reading this book for the sixth time in two years. Each time, it gets better and better! It never gets old. Here's the whole "rundown" on the story:
There are two princesses, Addie and Meryl. Addie is very shy and quiet, where as Meryl is fearless and brave. Meryl makes a promise to Addie that she wouldn't go anywhere until Addie is wed and happy. As said in the book:
"'Promise?' She dropped to one knee. 'I swear that I shall remain at Bamarre castle until the princess Adelina is wed to her true love. May my sword turn against me if I break this pledge.'"
But then Meryl, of all people, catches the Gray Death, a serious disease that can kill you. It was said that the Gray Death would be cured when "Cowards find courage and rain falls all over Bamarre" It takes her a couple of days, but after hearing about her cowardly father giving up on finding the cure, Addie sets out on her own journey to find the cure, battling gryphons, ogres, specters, and the most frightning dragon Bamarre has ever heard of. Will Addie ever find the cure? Will Meryl be saved? Read this book and, you too, will be lucky enough to have read this amazing book.

Summary: An interesting book
Review: The book Two Princesses of Bamarre starts out great. One princess, Princess Meryl, plans to someday rid her land of evil and have wonderful adventures. Her sister Addie is frightened of manythings, and finds comfort in Meryl. But when Meryl catches the Gray death, an illness whose victoms waste away in weariness, her plans seem dashed. No one has ever caughten the Gray death and lived, and no one will until (as an old poem says) "The timid find courage and rain falls over all Bamarre." Princess Addie is fearful of many thing, but she is even more afraid of losing her sister, so she sets off, with gifts from friends, to find the cure of the Gray Death herself. After some adventure, she is caught by a dragon, and taken back to its cave. Dragons know many things, but Addie at first cannot persuade the dragon to tell her the secret, and she cannot escape. From inside the cave, Addie looks home to Meryl through her magic spyglass and sees that she has entered the second stage of the Gray Death, a deep slumber. Meryl only has 12 more days to live.
I thought this was a good book, but I was dissapointed in the ending. In the end, the girls can no longer be sisters, and one will out live the other. This is why I have only given it four stars, I do not think the ending was very good.

Summary: Two totally different Princesses, one great adventure
Review: The book begins in the fantasy kingdom of Bamarre, with dragons, elves, fairies, gryphoons, specters and sorcerers. Princess Meryle is strong and brave, while Princess Addie is shy and scared. When Meryle becomes deathly ill with the Gray Death, its up to Addie to find the cure and fufill a prophesy. Batling ogers, dragons, specters and gryphoons, shy Addie finds out she is braver than she thought. Along the way a sorcerer helps her, while capturing her heart. Through a powerful spyglass Addie wathces her sister become sicker every day, but never looses hope. Can she find a cure in time? How will Addie escape the many dangers that befall her? I can only tell you to read this absolutly wonderful book. I read it all in one day because I couldn't put it down! I only regret finishing it so soon because I would have liked the adventure to go on forever.

Summary: The Two Very Different Sisters
Review: It all started with a promise. Princes Addie and prices Meryl are very close sisters but couldn't be any more different. Princes Meryl is very brave and wants to fight dragons while her sister Addie would like nothing better than to stay in her nice safe castle and do her embroidery. But when a terrible sickness comes to the castle and over comes one of the sisters, the other must go on a quest and find the cure to the Greydeath that could end the sisters lives.
I really loved this book. It's about two sisters , and I couln't help but think of my sister and me. I know I would fight an army of orgars to save her , and I know she would do the same for me.
I think anyone who has sibblings thay are close to, should read this book. If you like drama and romance you mite want to read this book.
