Rating: Summary: A Must Read for Anyone Having Trouble in School Review: Barthe DeClements novel, I Never Asked You to Understand Me, is excellently written. The main character, Didi, is having trouble at home and in school and consequently is sent to an alternative school, Cooperation High. While there she meets many other students who are going through a variety of different problems in their own lives. During her time at Cooperation High she "finds herself" and learns that she does not need to rebel against everything any longer. This is a must read for teenager who is having trouble in school, feels different, or alone. While reading this book you will be able to relate to many of the characters. Perhaps one or more will remind you of yourself.
Rating: Summary: A story to be guided by Review: I have read this book about 6 times and each time I read it I find something I miss. In my personal opinion this book is more of a teenage handbook to survival, and an honest look for parents into the lives of teenagers. When Didi lost her mother everything went wrong for her. She ended up having to change schools and from someone who has done that let me tell you it isn't easy. Finding out the abuse of Stacey her friend was horrifing; however, it would be no less horrifing to someone it actually happens to. Whether or not anyone wants to admit it these things actually happen and Barthe Declements not only brought the world of teenagers to parents, but signs of abuse to teens. With this book you have a guide to life....and how to save one. I give this book 5 stars and think anyone young or old who read it will find it educational and entertaining...it was literally the first book I couldn't put down.
Rating: Summary: The G-Review Review: I read the book I Never Asked You to Understand Me by Barthe DeClements. I found the book to be entertaining. This book dealt with a lot of family, friendship, and other teen life problems in the world today. The book is told from first person point of view by the main character in the book named Didi. She is an average teenager who is very attractive and is constantly harassed by the guys in her school. She struggles with school, family, and her peers around her. I recommend this book to teenagers because it shows them what they are going to have to encounter sooner or later in their life. This book was easy to read because the language was not too difficult. I am not an avid reader, but I gave this book my full attention.
Rating: Summary: good book with a good meaning! :) Review: I thought that this book was well written and it has a great meaning to it! the book talks a lot about druggies and dropouts but if one reads between the lines, it is a book all about friendships and how they deal with there teen-age years.
Rating: Summary: I Never Asked You To Understand Me Review: I was just reading my journal from when I was 14 (I'm 26 now) and I wrote this down as my favorite book. It may not be my favorite now, but it still ranks up there with "the best of the best" in my opinion. This is a really good read, not just for teens, but for the family of a teen. It seems as if you really know Didi by the end of the book!!

Rating: Summary: I Never Asked You To Understand Me Review: I would highly recommend the book, I Never Asked You To Understand Me, by Barthe DeClements to any teen-aged girl. This one of my favorite books. The author makes you feel like know all the characters. The book is basically about a teen-aged girl, Didi, who goes through many problems that many teens face. For instance her mother has cancer, Didi and her father don't have a relationship, basically they both live in the same house, but they barely speak. I can totally relate to this book. The whole book takes place in the city, middle class. All through out the book, Didi has a best friend that helps her through all her problems, relationship with her father, mother going through treatments, her and her boyfriend John's problems...EVERYTHING! As Didi mother is going through treatments, Didi and her father begin to get closer. Not exactly where they want to be in their relationship, but better than it ever was. Unfortunately her mother ends up passing away, which makes Katie hit rock bottom! Once again her best friend is there for her, but she ends up loosing her boyfriend because she's too depressed and he never really cared about her anyway. Although the death is very painful for her and her father, it brings them closer. At the end of the book Didi meets a guy...THE PERFECT GUY! Ken makes her feel loved, special, all the ways he should make her feel. Her and her father are perfectly fine, their relationship couldn't get any better, and her and her best friend remained close and end up becoming closer through out the years. I highly recommend this book to anyone with an open mind.

Rating: Summary: You really should read it Review: This book tells a story about a girl who goes through a lot in her teenage life. Her mother dies, she has to go to a school for dropouts and druggies, and she has to live with the most annoying housekeeper. Her world seems as if it is almost ending, when it is really just beginning. It is really good and it makes me want to read more of Barthe Declements' books.
