Summary: Life on Wings
Review: Life on Wings
Being a teenager is a tough time. Try being a teenager without any parents. In the book The Maze the main character is a juvenile at detention center in Nevada. His name is Rick, he went to the center because he threw 20 rocks at a stop sign. Rick threw the rocks he was frustrated. Teenagers can often get frustrated and don't know what to do with their anger. He did not have any supervision at home. Teenagers need supervision at home in my opinion to learn right from wrong.
While Rick was at the detention center he decides to escape, so that is what he does. He crawls over the fence and then he runs. Rick gets to the interstate and just hitchhikes.
After all that hitchhiking he ends up in Utah with a guy named Lon. Rick figures out Lon is a nice guy after all. Lon lets Rick sleep in a tent and eat his food. Rick finds out he is in a national park and Lon is working on a project called the Condor Project.
The two become good friends. That caused Rick to grow up and act more mature. I think teenagers need parents or an adult to help them get through tough times. In the book Rick helps Lon survive and Rick forgets about himself. That is why I believe camps like Outward Bound are good for teenagers. They learn about teamwork.

Review: My mom bought this book for me at a book fair at her work. I'm not sure why, but i'm glad. When i first got it I threw it on my bookshelf and never gave it a second glance, I didn't even read the back. But I was drawn to it, after i'd read everything else in my house two times over. Once I started reading it I couldn't put it down. I am happy to say that this is my favorite book. I reccommend it to all young adults, even if it takes time....READ IT!

Summary: The Maze
Review: Stuck in the middle of nowhere no food, no shelter how will fourteen year old Rick Walker survive. The book The Maze, by Will Hobbs is a both a survival story along with helping other people and wildlife. This is a good book to read when you have finished Gary Paulsen's eppic journeys one that I loved such as The Hobbit. In my mind this book was average or a liitle bit above as you can see from my rating, it might depend on what types of books you enjoy to read, this book is action packed in a desert in California filled with many trenches, canyons, rocks and other exotic things.
This book shows the journey of a teenager, 14 year old, Rick Walker who suddenly after taking ride in a truck is lost in the middle of nowhere, where he will try to survive by finding a food and shelter. As you can see this book is a man vs. nature moral and you will soon find it is also becomes man vs. man because of some incidents.
This book overall is over average. The Maze has quite a few exciting parts one being Rick Walker trys to survive in somewhere in California with danger lurking around the corner, what hapens is for you to find out, like any other review I'm not going to spoil the ending. As I said before this book can be interesting and sometimes boring book but is enough to grab a readers attention.
As far as reccomendations go this book would be too challenging and some terms would not be understood for anybody under grade 6 or not in middle school and his good for some young adults or even adults if they like survival stories, the one bad thing about reccomendations is you don't know what type of books people like. All in all, if you like both survival and action Will Hobbs has written the book for you.

Review: The Maze

I thought that the book The Maze was a terrific book to read. It is about this young boy named Ben, and he has no family and has a very negative attitude towards everything. He lives in a youth detention center, for a crime that he committed. Then he sneaks out and lives with this guy in the desert that studies birds.
This books starts off with him in court trying to get out of the crime he committed. He throws some rocks at a stop sign trying to relive some pressure. So they send him to a youth detention center for six months. While he was there he would get picked on, so he picked out a spot we he would be safe and that was the library. Then one day he got wind that he was going to get beat up. So one night he sneaks out of the bunks and runs for the highway.
Well when he gets on the highway he finds this trucks and jumps in the bed. In the truck is all this dead cows and truck load of hotdogs. So the truck goes on for a little while, and then stops by a camp in the desert. He gets out before the man can see him, and run for the rocks. In the morning he saw the man, so he got enough courage and went and talked to him. Come to him the guy is form the government studying birds. So the guy lets him stay with him, and they start talking and come to find out the have the same background.
Finally the man lets Ben come with him to study the birds. One day he sees the man hang gliding so he asked the man if he can learn to hang glide, and the man teaches him. Well I can't tell you the ending, but the ending is a terrific ending. I encourage you to read it.

Summary: The Maze
Review: The Maze by Will Hobbs is a great book for young teens. It is full of action packed adventure. Rick Walker, is just 14 years old. Is sent to Blue Canyon for throwing rocks at a stop sign while grieving his grandmothers death, who also took care of him. Rick escapes from Blue Canyon and slips into the back of a random truck. He sees a lot of coolers and decides to open one. Rick's hunger suddenly disappears when he notices dozens of dead frozen calves. Had he chosen the wrong truck? The truck takes him to Canyons National Park in Utah. He meets Lon Peregrino who has a government job releasing endangered condor fledglings into the park. But they are not alone Carlile and Gunderson are also there and doing illegal things. When Rick finds out Carlile and Gunderson are determined to get Lon and Rick to leave so they aren't turned in, even if it means killing endangered condors, stealing communication devices, and attempting to murder Lon and Rick. Lon and Rick become friends. Lon likes Rick so much he teaches him to hang glide.

I liked this book because of all the adventure. It has a very heart-stopping ending and kept me reading all night. I liked the way that Will Hobbs always had exciting things happening and explained everything.

Review: The Maze WAs a very action packed book. It was about a boy that ran away from a detention center which I thought was very cool. The reason why I gave this book a 3 star rating is because the plot of the book was not that good. I would recomend this book to someone that likes action and adventure books.

Summary: The touching adventure
Review: This book had a lot of impact on me because I sort of figure that i'll never end up in a detention center or even escaping from anything. In this book I felt like I was living what I'll never live. It was exciting and really adventurous yet it had a soft side to it where the two main characters relate to what has happened to eachother. I had fun reading this and found it strangly touching under the circumstances of the story.
