Every year since the tragedy, Denny's family receives random calls and letters and threats blaming Denny's father for the deaths. Denny is told not to answer the telephone when he is at home, but one day his curiosity becomes overwhelming and he answers the phone and many problems arise because of it. I really enjoyed this book because it was suspenseful. It really got me involved with the story. However, it was a little confusing at some parts because it jumped from person to person. I recommend this book to anyone who likes mysteries and who can handle more then one angle of the story being told to you.

The boy was harassed by people on the anniversary of the accident, (Halloween), every year. One woman in particular always calls in the middle of the night. Now, it's the twenty-fifth anniversary and the boy is all grown up and has a family of his own. It is a few weeks before Halloween and the calls start again. But now the caller wants to talk to his son, Denny, and she starts messing with his head. I thought this was a really good book and it keeps you interested and makes you want to keep reading. The author described the scenes really well so it made a picture in your head of what was going on. He also described the characters very well. For example, when Denny waited at the bus stop every morning there were these little bratty kids that were always really annoying and the author described them so well that you kind of get annoyed by them yourself. One thing that the author did that I didn't like was that he didn't make the main character, Denny, very interesting. He made him kind of a dull person. But, I think that maybe he was supposed to be kind of boring, but it still annoyed me because he didn't have any friends. Overall, I really liked this book and I would recommend it.

His father was involved in an accident that killed twenty two children. All Denny wants is a normal life like everyone else his age, but Denny's father wont allow him to have a lisence or get a job like normal kids. This stoy gives a look inside the psycological workings of several different characters minds. I'm glad I read it, not because it was the best novel ever written, but becuase of the look it gives at the different characters.

Though the beginning of the story was quite confusing, the details and actions all came together at the end, to produce a surprising ending.I would recommend the book to anyone who wants an excellent mystery with a great lesson involved.

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: This book is a must read! Review: I have recently read In the Middle of the Night by Borbert Cormier for a school project and it was one of the best books that I have ever read in my life. I loved the way that Robert Cormier used the cliff hanger technique to end most of his chapters. I'm 14 years old and enjoy reading haunting yet true to life books like all of the books Mr. Cormier writes. If you read only one book in your whole entire life, you must read this one. It is outstanding! I highly recomend this book to anyone over the age of 15 because of it's extremely controversal topics, don't let that keep you from reading this book!
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Good book, bad ending Review: I liked the book a lot in the beginning and in the middle, while the suspense was slowly building, but then I felt that everything just happened all at once and too sudden to be realistic. I found myself wondering, that's it? That's all? I feel it could have been a much better book if the author had taken more time to "resolve" the book.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: a good book for high schoolers Review: I read the book In the Middle of the Night by Robert Cormier. This book is around 180 pages and it is a suspense thirller. The end of thge book will leave you on the edge of your seat. The book begins with a very confusing plot. As the story goes on, it begins to get better until it reaches a climatic end. I was left wondering when i read this quote from the book,"Denny's father's life changed at the age of sixteen." It turns out that his father was blamed for the deaths of 22 children in a horrible acident. To find out how this happened with details o it, you'll need to need to read the book. This is a good book for kids in or above a middle school reading level. It is worth reading even if you do not understand it in the beginning, it will become clearer by the end. If you continue to read, you will be glad you did.
