Rating: Summary: Best of the three Review: I first discovered Meredith Ann Pierce through the Firebringer books, then sought out The Darkangel because I needed to read everything she wrote. I love her style, and even after reading the trilogy several times I don't get tired of the language and characters. This is the only one of the three I had to replace because I literally wore out my paperback copy. The first is the most adventure and the third the most revelation, but A Gathering of Gargoyles is what moves the quest from impossibility to hope and gives Aeriel the beginnings of her confidence and identity. This is the best one to pick up and read on its own.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful, Really a great book Review: I first read this book not knowing it was part of a trilogy, but now I can't wait to read the other 2! It was one of the best books I've ever read. It was beautifully written and has inspired me to write my own book. It was very moving.
Rating: Summary: Better than the original. Review: I liked this book a little more than the Darkangel, because it had more of what I liked. I enjoyed her traveling companions, and the gargoyles and the concept of the traveler's fruit interested me. You also learned how people begin to believe she is a sorceress, which is amusing, and the way she comes across great riches across the sea of dust. When she looks at the icarus and drives him away is one of my favorite parts. Its shows the powers she is unaware of.
Rating: Summary: Great fantasy title Review: I love Meredith Ann Pierce's Darkangel Trilogy, including this second book. The imagery is wonderful and the story gripping. I couldn't put it down.
Rating: Summary: I loved the style of fantasy writing used by Pierce. Review: I loved this book and it kept me on my toes. Although it was a little off the wall at certain points, I give it three thumbs up! :^P
Rating: Summary: Great Book Review: I loved this book. I accidentally discovered The Darkangel and A Gathering of Gargoyles at my school library, it was a pretty old version, but I loved it. Very interesting. Great for someone who's into fantasy and magic. It was very hard to find the last book.

Rating: Summary: I loved it. Review: I read The Pearl of the Soul of the World two years ago, and I loved it. I discovered M. A. Pierce's books by accident, in her book A Gathering of Gargoyles. It was very hard to find the other two books, however, and it took a lot of requests to my local library. If you do find it, however, it is worth it. It is a beautifully written book, and it gives a surprising end to the trilogy. Through both the Darkangel Trilogy, and her Firebringer Trilogy, M. A. Pierce quickly became my favorite author.
Rating: Summary: It was a beautiful book... Review: I stumbled across this book quite on accident. I had read theDarkangel, and had been very disappointed with its ending. When Irealized there was a sequel (and one after that) I was thrilled. AGathering of Gargoyles did not disappoint me either. It lived up to the talent and promise shown in the first book, adding richer characters and slowly revealing more character traits in Aeriel that even she was not aware of. I loved the companions she met along the road, Nat, Galnor, and Erin. I loved the way that Pierce did not try to make Aeriel a perfect person. She is not. She does not always make the correct choices. She allows her love for Irrylath to overcome reason sometimes, but it only makes for a better and more touching story. It is hard to sympathize with someone if they are perfect. If anyone has ever been in unrequited love (you know who you are) you know the kind of pain it can cause. The story begins with Aeriel married to Irrylath, but knowing full well that he can't stand the sight of her. I ached for Irrylath to love her as much as she loved him. The only concept I didn't like (and this goes for the first book as well) was the several times that Aeriel either told or was told a story that turned out (through strange coincidence) to be her or the person she was talking to. I wouldn't mind so much if she would realize it, but its as if she purposefully stays in the dark. It frustrates me. Hardly worth mentioning, as it's the only constructive criticism I can offer. All in all, this was a lovely book that lived up to expectations of the Darkangel.
Rating: Summary: Breathtaking Review: I was left breathless by the book. Not only is the story rich in style and characters, it potrays a very REAL, believeable shero ((Female hero, not to be confused with a hapless heroine)). Ariel's inner struggles with her husband's unwillingness to love her, her budding self assurance, and her age old mentality of having been a slave all war with her quiet desperation to free her one love from his prison of self-doubt. Yet the book isn't as much about her quest as it is the change she undergoes, becoming a stronger, more confidant individual, who is in the end surprised by just how much she CAN accomplish. As a college student reading this book, I was moved. I can only imagine the effect it would have had on me if I had read this when I was much younger and much less sure of myself. A definate must for anyone with a young female in the family. Believe me, if they even remotely like fantasy or SciFi, they will LOVE this book.
