At first I was extremely skeptical about reading this book because of its intended audience, but after we got into it I enjoyed every line. The characters were thouroughly enjoyable and at the same time believeable. I want to be very carefull as not to give any thing away about this book, because I don't want to ruin any moment that takes place. But I also found it very interesting how the author used multiple story lines then tied them all together at the end. to wrap this review up, Louis Sachar uses a wonderful cast of characters to pass along this very creative and humorous story. I would recommend it to any teen, even those who are'nt to thrilled about reading

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Fantastic Review: The book Holes, by Louis Sachar, is one of my favorite reads. I love how a narrator tells the story. This helps me to better understand what Stanley was going through. For example: 'Stanley Yelnats was the only passenger on the bus, not including the driver or the guard. The guard sat next to the driver with his seat turned around facing Stanley. A rifle lay across his lap. 'Stanley was sitting about ten row back, handcuffed to his armrest. His backpack lay on the seat next to him. It contained his toothbrush, toothpaste, and a box of stationary his mother had given him. He'd promised to write to her at least once a week. 'He looked out the window, although there wasn't much to see, mostly fields of hay and cotton. He was on a long bus ride to nowhere. The bus wasn't air conditioned, and the hot, heavy air was almost as stifling as the handcuffs.' (p. 6) This passage explains one of the many hardships Stanley had to endure while at Camp Green Lake. This book has a reoccurring connection with the past and the present. I would agree that this theme is true to its word. This theme also relates to my life. My family's past generations have gone through similar celebrations and trials as my family has now in the present day. If I were to recommend any quick read to a person it would have to be this book. I love it! This book applies to all ages. I would specifically recommend this book to children in grades five through nine. This book, Holes, is a fantastic piece of literature.

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Book Review of Holes by a 9 year old author Review: This is a cliche but I mean it: Holes is a breathtaking, unforgettable ride that you can never put down. The book is good for all ages because the characters' nicknames will make the children laugh and the suspense will make the grown-ups bite their nails down to their cuticles, just like Stanley Yelnats's parents when they find out Stanley stole Clyde Livingston's shoes, a famous baseball player. Stanley goes to Camp Green Lake for his punishment. He digs holes every day to build character, but is he digging holes really to build character? Stanley doesn't think so. He meets some new friends: X-Ray, Armpit, Zero, Magnet and Zig-Zag. He doesn't use his given name but Caveman instead. Have you ever met Sam the Onion Man or his donkey, Mary Lou? Or Kate Barlow? Well, you'll meet them all in this surprising and adventurous book.
