The book Holes is pretty much standard reading in middle school. If you know someone who has been in the 6th grade recently, then he/she has probably read Holes. A friend of mine who is a 7th grade English teacher, gave me a copy of the book. He insisted that I read it before I go see the movie. I'm glad I did. The story was amusing, exciting, funny and absurd in the style of Kurt Vonnegut. I liked this book a lot. I'd read it again. Two thumbs up! I can't wait to see the movie.

Review: I liked the part in Holes where Stanley goes to Camp Greenlake and meets a cowboy and the cowboy said that he used to smoke 1 pack of ciggarets a day but he quit and now he eats 1 pack of sunflower seeds a day. I liked it because it just was interesting and a good book and exiting. The book would be better if the aurthor added more details and a holes #2,#3,and #4. I read it because the cover looked interesting so I read a couple chapters and I liked it so I kept on reading it...
Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: Don't Waste Your Time On The Book Review: The book was okay, but very badly written. I somewhat enjoyed the book as I was reading it, but afterwards I thought "Why did I read this?" For young readers, I reccomend more INTELLIGENT reading. Not books about some treasure that you KNOW the good guy is going to win. Watch the movie, instead, which is in theaters now. It is a lot better than the book. The book is also unrealistic. How can someone live off of peaches that have been sitting in a boat for one hundred years and only just barf? Wouldn't it be a lot more serious? And American justice is much better than that stated. Camp Greenlake would never exist in this country. I felt that I was reading a book that happened in a foreign Communist movie. So if you're going to waste [money] plus shipping on your book ..., don't! Waste that same amout of money for a movie ticket. I seriously say that the movie is better than the book.

Is it right to be sent to jail because a random object decided it wanted to take out its rage in the beck of your head? Well, that's how life has been for Stanley Yelnats. He has been sent to Camp Green Lake, sounds good huh? green trees, blue cool lake? No, just miles and miles of dry dirt that has been turned into a giant dry and dirty sponge. Stanley soon finds out that he didn't catch the whole name of the camp, he didn't hear the "Boys Correctional Facility" part on the end. Through his time at Camp Green Lake, Stanley is supposed to grow character, but instead, he grows a knowledge for what's really going on! This book will want you to always stay and read just a little more with a douse of Mystery added on to a splash of Adventure.

In fact the camp is a juvenile facility name Camp Green Lake. Stanley Yelnats a boy who were framed got sent to the camp make him into a good boy. In the camp the councilors believe that digging a hole a day in the dried up lake (once a big lake) could make a bad boy into a good one. The hole they had to dig was 5 foot wide and 5 foot deep. There is a reason to that is because the no good Warden knows that there are treasure buried in the lake and using kids as labor. There is also a story to Stanley's misfortune, is great great grandfather stole a pig from a witch and got a curse. Stanley is a boy in a poor family and got framed for stealing a pair of shoes. Zero a boy that doesn't know how to read and he had been in the camp for a long time. Over all of this book is very excieting and the interest level for the viewers are all ages. review by hubert hsu

Louis Sachar really hit the spot. I feel bad to this day for Zero. The only thing that kinda didn't go for me were the yellow spotted lizards. That doesn't mean much anyway. I think they should have been a little bit scarier. The book altogether was majestic. I pity a fool who doesn't like this book or hasn't read it. The book gave me a very vivid picture of the holes. You have to read it.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Holes Review: I think Holes was one of the best books i ever read. It tells the story of a boy who is sent to a boys detention camp (camp green lake) for a crime he didn't commit. the judge said he stole Clyde Livingston's shoes. He didn't steal them. the judge gave him a choice, "Jail or camp green lake." Unfortunatly he decided Camp green lake. he was a poor boy that came from a poor family. he had never been to camp before. He was poor and it was all because of his No-good-rotten-pig-stealing-great-grandfather.
