Summary: Holes
Review: Stanley Yelnats has been unjustly accused of stealing a pair of baseball cleats. Now he must choose between going to prison or, the obvious choice, going to Camp Green Lake. He is going to Camp Green Lake. He and the other campers are told that are building character as they are digging physically exhausting holes. It seems, however, that the warden is having the boys do this backbreaking task to find what she believes is a treasure in the never-ending desert.
Along with the story of Stanley, we are told the story of the past-time kissing bandit, Kate Barlow, whom harassed people around the same location of what is now Camp Green Lake.
This book creatively weaves two stories together which at first can leave a person in a pleasant state of confusion, but makes the reader thrive for an understanding of what is going on, and consequently only leaves the reader the choice of not putting the book down and continuing the reading. As the past is woven in with the present, then suddenly the holes of the story start to fill. This leaves the reader smiling at the sheer intelligence and creativity with which this puzzle of a book was put together. This book is among the few that will give everyone a good read and let them enjoy themselves.

Summary: Great for ALL Ages!
Review: I would highly suggest reading this book. It's a great story, with a great ending. I also highly suggest reading other books by Louis Sachar. A really fun story to read, and the book has little short stories about the main character's familie's past. Well written also. You have to read it. It's better than the movie. Oh, and Louis Sachar was in the movie! A small role as a bald man, who bought onion juice from Sam the Onion Man. Great book overall.

Summary: Holes
Review: Stanley Yelnats believes his family has a curse on all the men in the family. When his father just can't seem to get any of his expieriments to be sucussful, the curse seems to be correct again. One day when Stanley Yelnats is walking, a pair of shoes drops from a bridge above him. The curse seems to erupt again! The shoes happen to be a stolen pair of shoes. Stanley is then taken to court. He can choose to either to to juvie or can attend Camp Greenlake. Stanley chooses Camp Greenlake. There seems to be one problem about Camp Greenlake....there's no lake. Stanley realizes this is no camp. Day after day he digs holes to "build character" out in the hot sun. Why exactly are the boys digging holes? What's the secret behind Camp Greenlake? Can Stanley prove he's innocent? Can they break the family curse?
Holes is an awesome book for anyone, any age, any gender. The author does an awesome job of telling about two stories at one time. It has an awesome ending abot the story and in the end the author finds everything to tie it all togeher, to make one big happy ending.

Summary: Holes
Review: Holes is an excellent book!! It was funny and you don't know what will happen next in the story. Louis Sachar is a wonderful author. I'm glad I chose this book! Stanley, the main character in the story, is a boy who gets in trouble for "stealing" Clyde Livingston's shoes!! Stanley is sent to Camp Green Lake which doesn't have a lake! It's a camp where boys who have stolen things go "to learn from their mistakes". Stanley blames it all on his no-good-dirty-rotten-pig-stealing great-great-grandfather. While he's at camp, he finds a gold colored tube which he thinks is either a gun capsule or a lipstick tube but he's not sure. He goes on alot of adventures and finds out alot about his life, family, and his no-good-dirty-rotten-pig-stealing great-great-grandfather. But you will have to find out more about the book for yourself!! So READ THE BOOK!!!!!

Review: I would recommend the book HOLES to all readers of teenage and interest. In this story, Stanley Yelnats gets into trouble with the law and gets a choice to go to jail or Camp Green Lake. He picks Camp Green Lake. Stanley is nervous the first couple of days at camp but soon meets many friends that help him get through times and tell him how to dig the 5 by 5 holes. Everyday these kids have to dig 5 by 5 holes until something is found and reported. Later on, Stanley and one of his friends sneek out and dig a hole where Stanley thinks something is. After a while, they find a box but are caught with it. Also they find yellow-spotted lizards on them. Will they get to keep or see what is in the box? WIll they get arrested? Will they survive the lizards? You will have to read and find out.

Summary: Holes {the best book ever}
Review: This Book is The best book I've ever read. I didn't think i was going to like it at first because i said to my self holes why would someone write about holes? But then I read it it was awesome!!! If I could I would give this book a 100 out of 100 rating. It is about a boy Stanley Yelnats and his family has a curse. Because of his no good rotten pig steeling great great grandfather. or so he says. This book taught me to appriciate what I have because even though you have a curse still appriciate it. Stanley and his friend Zero have to find the cure to this curse and get back home and get away from the mean people who work there.I loved the movie also. If you don't buy this awesome book you don't know how much you are missing out on. I would reccomend this book to ages 7 and older................So what are you waiting for BUY IT!!!

Summary: funny as well as interesting
Review: This is one of my all time fave's. I thought Stanley's trip to "CAMP" greenlake was funny and the book was clever. I thought the characters like mr. sir and the warden were funny too, in a mean way. So if you like fun books about kids with BIG problems, read this book. I also advise you read Prairie Whispers if you like exciting stories . It's Great.

Summary: a hole lot of fun
Review: Stanley Yelnats is the palindromic hero of "Holes." As punishment for supposedly stealing a pair of sneakers, he is sentenced to a stint at Camp Green Lake (a misnomer if there ever was one). There, in a Dickensian-like conditions under (Roald)Dahlian like keepers, Stanley digs holes daily with the other hapless boys. Soon he comes to realize that he may be digging for reasons that have nothing to do with building character, and everything connected with the curse placed on his family long ago.

With his new friend Zero, Stanley manages to unravel the mystery and revoke the curse. Like Dahl and Dickens, all ends happily with the villains suitably punished. Along the way, the characters learn about the importance of persistence, loyalty to your friends, and how to get rid of foot odor for good.

And the movie is just as terrific.
