Summary: A great book with a little bit of everything!
Review: I am a mom who likes to read books aloud with my kids. My 11-year-old daughter picked this one. What a treat! We laughed and cried and became very attached to Stanley and Zero and were amazed and amused at the twists and turns of the plot which were all tied up in a beautiful (w)hole at the end of the book. Highly recommended.

Summary: A book for all ages!

Summary: Enjoyable reading and I couldn't put the book down.
Review: I liked this book because it showed me that good can come out of a bad situation. This book demonstrated that if you believe in yourself no matter what, you can succeed. I felt bad for Stanley because he was treated so badly by the horrible warden. I liked all of Stanley's friends in the story, especially Zero (Hector Zeroni). This book really grabbed my attention and I liked it so much that I passed it on to my fifth grade teacher, and I will also be sharing it with my friends.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Put this one at the top of your reading list.
Review: Holes has got it all, regardless of your age. Great characters, storyline, description, and suspense. I couldn't put it down and was sorry when it ended. It should become a classic.

Summary: great tall tale
Review: This is my favorite book of Louis Sachar. It reminds me a lot of Fleishman's books. A really sly tall tale with compassion for the underdogs in life, not to mention lots of great moments on friendship. You'll cheer at the end. Stanley Yelnats is one of my favorite heros.

Summary: We need more good adolescent literature like this book.
Review: As a high school English teacher, I don't often enough read the books that my students have read before they get into my classes. But after seeing students cling to literary fluff like those "made-for-adolescents" series of today (Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys, where are you?), I was so grateful to read a well-constructed, amusing, entertaining, and thought-provoking moral tale like the one Sachar has given us here. Books like this will appeal to the twelve-year-old in all of us!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: read or regret, it is a great book!
Review: This was one of my favorite books along with "Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone". I recomend it for anyone. You will be done in 1 day gaurented, a reel page turner.
