Rating: Summary: Holes is a very good book. Review: I read Holes by Louis Sachar in my Reading and Learning skills class in school. It was probably the best book I've ever read in school. Don't judge this book by the name. It has good history tied into it. It is about a young boy named Stanley Yelnats who gets arrested for something he did not do. Given the choice between jail and Camp Green Lake, he chooses the camp. The camp ends up being in the middle of the desert where the boys have to dig one hole 5' deep and 5' across every day day for a year and a half. They say their digging to build character but they actually aren't. Read the book and find out what happens.
Rating: Summary: This is Louis Sachar's most amazing book! Review: This book was filled with wonderful characters like Stanley Yelnats and Hector Zeroni, and it had an incredible plot with wonderful surprises, twists, and turns from the first page to the last page.
Rating: Summary: I thought this book was the best of all Louis Sachar books. Review: I loved Holes so much I think it should be 10 stars. At night I would read it until I couldn't keep my eyes open, then I would drop it on the floor and fall asleep. If I could I would send it to every house in America because I think everyone should read it.
Rating: Summary: Great book for readers of all ages! Review: My 10-year-old son's 5th grade teacher started reading Holes daily to his class and he started giving me periodic updates. We were both dismayed when the book was due back at the library and his teacher couldn't renew it since so many people were on the waiting list for the book. We tried checking it out at our local library and after finding it wasn't available at any branch in the county, bought our own copy. We finished the book quickly, enjoying every chapter and shared it with his class so they would know how it ended. I always enjoy happy endings and this book definitely has one!
Rating: Summary: Engaging, entertaining, enraging, pure enjoyment Review: As a teacher I am always looking for new stories to suggest and share with my students. Sachar has provided a gem with "Holes". He has continued his ability to entertain and make his readers think. Sachar is has definitely earned his Newberry this time. I have just started reading "Holes" to my fourth graders and they love it so far. The connections that Sachar uses throughout the story keep my students intent on the story. His use of humor keeps them thoroughly entertained.
Rating: Summary: NEEDS 100 STARS! Review: This is the world's best book! I'm a huge fan of Wayside School and I did my book report on Holes. I got a 100 and everyone in my class wants it. Even the school librarian envies me!
Rating: Summary: The best book Review: This was an excellent book. I usually preffer something longer, but over all it was pretty good. My english teacher read it to us and most of us loved it, but unfortunately I have to write a book report on it and I am trying to get notes from one of the days I was absent and he's not responding to me!
Rating: Summary: a WONDERFUL engaging book for all ages Review: I just closed this book, and I loved it. This book is not just for young readers. Adults will enjoy it as well. I have read other Sachar books, but I found Holes to have it all. I love the way the story unfolds through the use of flashbacks, and the final resolution was so satisfying. I highly recommend this book.
Rating: Summary: GREAT! I have 0 complaints Review: This book was the best I've read all year.Louis Sachar(my favorite author)made it hilarious and interesting.Once I had started it,it was impossible to put down.I recommend this book highly.
Rating: Summary: READ IT READ IT READ IT READ IT READ IT Review: I lovedx this book and you should read it if you have not. I loved it so much. When you pick it up you groan and say not another 200 page book but once you get into it it seems like its 50 pages and it takes you have the time to read it that it would take a 25 page book you should read it. It's about a boy named Stanley Yelnats (notice that Yelnats is Stanley Backwards). This book starts out with the sentence "There is no lake at Camp Greenlake". Stanley has been acused of stealing Clyde Livingstons shoes. He has to go to camp Green Lake or Jail. He ays "I've never been to camp before". At Camp he meets Zero, Armpit, Squid, Twitch, the warden, Mr. Sir, Mr. Pandanski and others.Every day in the hot Texas sun he has to dig a hole 5 feet in depth 5 fet in length and 5 feet in width. After a while he runs away. The rest is for me to know and you to read when you read this great book with many suprises and other details that are very important. You will love this book that you will not be able to put it down. Abd remember Sploosh.
