Review: I'm glad I got this book as a gift. Otherwise I don't think I would have bought it. After reading it, I was suprised at how good it actually was. (Now Holes is one of my favorite books) For anyone who has not read Holes, you should!

Summary: A fittingly unusual and unique wonder
Review: There are some books that are impeccably plotted; others make perfect use of irony. Some earn accolades for creativity. The real literary rarity is when there's a book that's not only constructed almost perfectly, but that's also cleverly ironic and quirkily creative. _Holes_ is that kind of book. Of course, it's not for everybody. Some people prefer realism. Others won't give a book so bizarre their willing suspension of disbelief. There's no doubt that _Holes_ is strange--most "realistic" books don't involve fate and destiny so directly. But it's *meant* to be strange. This does not, however, mean that most people won't enjoy it. True, it is a children's book, but for those willing to suspend disbelief, it's a delight to read and surprisingly absorbing. I picked _Holes_ up in a fit of boredom and stayed awake well past midnight to finish it. (And I don't usually like children's books this much: I'm going into the ninth grade, and my tastes range from _The Princess Bride_ to _Watership Down_ to _Interview with the Vampire_.) _Holes_ has been compared to the Harry Potter books, and they are in some ways similar. However, where J.K. Rowling's work has freshly clever ingenuity and delightfully vivid characters and action, Louis Sachar's latest book has a remarkably well-constructed plot and a simple yet powerful moral. In _Holes_, Sachar displays a valuable ability to make a rather odd plot seem compellingly simple and easy to follow. Everything adds up, even the coincidences. Furthermore, Sachar finds room for some symbolism even while intertwining the two main plotlines of the story. The author's effort and talent shine in _Holes_. For those willing to take on the unusual story, it is a wonderful book.

Review: Holes is the best book I've read. If you want to enjoy a great book, get it today. Stanley Yelnats is a poor boy who is guilty of stealing Clyde Livingston's shoes. He either has to choose to go to jail, or Camp Green Lake. From the first chapter, you know it's a great book.

Review: This is one of the most interesting, intriguing, clever and enjoyably satisfying books I have read (adult books included). A book that's got it all: insight; ingenious plot; compelling characters; good writing; and an ending which wraps it all together in grand style. This book stayed with me long after I finished it.

Review: I had heard that holes was a great book to read and I thought that I sould read it. I thought that it was a great book. it is a about a boy named Stanley how is sent to a correction center where you have to dig a hole that is five feet deep, and five feet across in all directions. I liked how about every other chapter they told a little of the towns history and it tells a little why they are digging the holes It is a great book and I think that you should really read this book

Review: Holes is a great book about a boy named Stanley who is sent to a correctional center. It is a suspenceful and exciting book. The story takes place in Camp Green Lake but its not as pleasent as it sounds its a mystery you'll find out about once you read it. Holes is a wonderful book I could not recomend it any higher. Great for kids and adults all ages.
