Review: I purchased this book for my niece and then borrowed it back to read. It's a great story about good versus evil, the haves against the have-nots. Sure it's for kids but it's like a Disney movie in that it has something for the adults as well. The end even has a couple of twists that may surprise you. Trust me, read it and you will feel good afterwards. We all need short excursions away from reality. For a longer "trip" read I Am One of You Forever by Fred Chappell

Review: After reading Holes for the first time, I enjoyed the book. Upon reading it a second, third, and fourth time, I found the book even better. I began to notice details and intricate connections that on the first reading eluded me. I really enjoy the flashback scenes to the onion picker and Mary Lou.

Review: My mother collects children's liteatiure, and over the years I have become quite a connoiseur. Holes was one of the best that I have read in years. The skill with which the story is woven together, the cleverness, and the writing style are impressive. I'm an 18 year old college student, and I couldn't put the book down. The moral is heartwarming without being cheesey, and the book addresses serious issues of friendship, classism, and raceism in a no nonsense way that does not speak down to children. Read it, by all means.

Review: Louis Sachar is a genius! The way he wrote Holes was extremely clever. You could almost beleive the story was true. All that's left to say is that I hope there is no one with Stanely's bad luck out there! I would recomend this book to everybody over the age of 10.
