Review: I recently took the audiotape of Holes on a five-hour car trip so my sixth-grade niece and two of her friends could listen to it. These three girls were fascinated by the story. Whenever we made a "pit stop" the first thing they'd do when we got back in the car was say, "Turn the tape on!" This humorous, intense story made a pleasant trip even better.

It is good because of the way that it tells stories from the old west after parts where that information reveals a secret. You have got to read this book.

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: This is the greatest book I've ever read! Review: Holes is the best book I have ever read. It is also the funniest book I have ever read. I can read this book a million times because I liked it so much. If a sequel of this comes out, I would be one of the first people to buy it. I sure hope a movie comes out for this book. My favorite stories were the ones about "Kissin' Kate Barlow." I like it when an author just takes time in a book and talks about something else like the past. Some of the stories were really cool like the time Kissin' Kate Barlow hid the treasure and got bitten by a yellow spotted lizard. My other favorite part is when Zero and Caveman survive on "God's thumb" (a mountain in the shape of a thumbs up sign). It was amazing they could get water just by digging very deep in the sand. Those are some reasons Holes is my favorite book. I would recommend this book to everybody in fourth grade and higher. I would recommend this book because it is easy to read. It is also very funny. It is very fun to read also. It is very nice to read in your spare time. My whole family has read it, and they all agree that Holes is a great book.

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: From 8pm to 1am in one sitting to my wide-awake 8 year old Review: The second reading in two days was to my 8 year old son. I've NEVER read the same book twice in two days. We started at 8pm and just couldn't find a way to stop. When 1am rolled around we were both wide awake, and a bit teary eyed. The second read was better than the first because I was able to notice (and highlight) things missed in the naive first read. "If only . . ." there were more books like this in the world . . .
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Wonderfully Written Book! Review: Louis Sachar has obviously proven himself to be one of the top young-adult writers. In this wonderfully descriptive book, Stanley Yelnats finds himself in Camp Green Lake, a juvenile detention center for boys. The only thing is the camp has no lake, and is hardly green. Each morning the boys rise to dig a hole ( 5 feet down, 5 feet in each direction ). The Counselers tell the boys digging builds character. But as the story progresses, Stanley finds that the Camp doesn't care about the boy's character- but they are looking for something else. The plot is strangely ironic as Sachar tells three tales at once- and they all connect at the end. I read this book in 5 hours and would recommend it to anyone. One of Sachar's best!

Review: I won't tell you what happens at the end of this Newbery Medal winning book, but pay attention to every word. There are detials that, in one chapter, could be minor, but in another, could be major. Also, make sure you're a good thinker, because HOLES leaves holes for you and your brain to fill in yourself! Hope you don't get to hot from filling all those in!
