You get frightened and start running, after about 10 ft the police turn the corner and see you running with the shoes and suspect you were the one who stole them. Well that's exactly what happens to Stanley Yelnats in the book holes He was sentenced to jail or a year at camp green lake a boy's camp in the middle of nowhere. (Boy was he in for a surprise). When he gets on the bus they travel a hundred of miles into the middle of nowhere. The point of the book was to show that if you were positive and sure about something then you'd eventually get something good out of it. The catchy title is what pulled me in and the inscruciating detail. Imagine if you had to dig 5 foot holes every day for a year. That would be hard on you and the people who were digging with you.

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Holes is a great book for all Ages Review: Stanley Yelnats's great, great-grandfather once took a pig from a one-eyed gypsy. The great, great-grandfather said that when the pig became full grown, he would come back and carry the gypsy up a mountain to let her drink from a river that runs upwards. The grandfather never did, and from then on Stanley's family seemed to have bad luck. Stanley was wrongly accused of stealing famous sneakers, and was sent to Camp Green Lake. Another boy, Zero, got mad and hit a counselor with his shovel and ran away into the desert. Stanley felt as if he should go after Zero, but he did not want to die out on the desert. Zero had a strong will and would not back down unless there was something making it absolutely impossible for him to move on. This book may be directed toward kids, but I would recommend it to anyone. The whole book relates to itself. It is interesting how it takes five different stories and makes them all relate to each other. This book will make you think everything is getting worse and worse and just when you think you've had enough, and then story looks up and things get better for Stanley. This book is very easy to read and almost anyone could read it, but I guarantee that if you read it you will love it.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: An All-Time Classic for All Ages Review: Louis Sachar's book has won more awards than there are holes at Camp Green Lake, and that's quite a few. 'Holes' not only deserves each award, it deserves to be read by a wide audience spanning every imaginable age category. As the book opens, Stanley Yelnats is on his way to Camp Green Lake. It's a camp for boys, but Stanley's not very happy about it: It's actually a correctional facility in the Texas desert. "If you take a bad boy and make him dig a hole every day in the hot son, it will turn him into a good boy," say the camp "counselors." Stanley's not convinced. Stanley IS convinced, however, that he's not bad, but cursed, as are all the men in the Yelnats family, dating back to his great-great grandfather. Unfortunately, Stanley sees no way out of the curse or Camp Green Lake. But there's something strange going on with all these holes the boys have to dig... 'Holes' is an incredible book with a simple, yet complex story construction. The lessons it teaches are universal, subtle, and tastefully handled. 'Holes' is not one of those books that will be in favor for a few years before it fades away into obscurity. This is a book that will one day be mentioned in any and all discussions on the very finest in young adult literature. An instant classic. 233 pages
