There are also the classic "Thought to be dumb" characters that are really smart. The tense moments really get to you. I didn't really like the way they told two stories at once, because you forget about one story for a time, then you forget about the other one. I only like the descriptions.

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: It's a tie for my favorite book of all time. Review: I loved reading Holes. In class we have to do a book report almost every month. I'm really glad I chose the book Holes. Some of the things you read in the story you don't think is important, but at the end everything just ties together. Stanley Yelanst gets wrongly acused of stealing a pair of shoes. He has to go to a youth prison camp. Everyday you have to dig a hole 5 feet deep and five feet wide. Sachar does a wonderful job of writing. My mom read this book before I did and liked it just as much. I would recomend this book to anyone from the ages of 8- to adult. A great book for anyone. I have no trouble seeing why this book won the Newberry Medal of Honor. I love Holes.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Great Book! Review: This book is the best I've seen in a long time. It's like a jigsaw puzzle, only you REALLY have to pay attention. You absolutly MUST read "Holes" if you want mystery, adventure and humor. Best of all, if you don't understand some part, the last "part" explains everything. Read it!
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: A gem in childrens' literature! Review: Never judge a book by its cover. It was hard for me to look at Holes by Louis Sachar without wondering how the illustrious author of Sideways Stories from Wayside School and There's a Boy in the Girls Bathroom managed to procure both a Newbery Medal and a National Book Award. I expected Holes to be yet another tale of juvenile delinquency and final redemption. I was however, pleasantly surprised at the depth of this book. I soon found myself caught up in the well-constructed plot, and finished it within twenty-four hours. Although I realized that what I was reading was definitely 'pleasure reading', I enjoyed piecing together the events in my mind and near the end of the book I was able to triumphantly say, "Ah-hah!" Even though most events fell together, I did not in the least appreciate the last chapter in which the author instructs the readers to 'fill in the holes' on their own. It led me to believe that the author himself couldn't think of anything to tie events together and therefore, he simply thought of an eloquent way to tell us to use our imaginations. All things considered, Holes was an excellent book and I enjoyed it very much. Louis Sachar definitely made a contribution to children's literature in the writing of Holes and deserves the honors he received for it.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Holes Review: I loved this book, I was forced to read it for school but found out that I couldn't put it down, it is a great book. I usualy finish a book over 200 pages in 1 1/2 weeks or so, but this one i finished in 2 days! I can see why it got the Newbery Medal Book, and I think you should see too.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Fine Book Review: I thought it was an okay book. Not the best though. But I think it should be a book everyone can enjoy. It's about a boy named Stanley Yelnats. He gets acused for stealing a famous baseball player's shoes. I shouldn't give you away the rest. If you want to figure out what happens, check out the book or buy it.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Wonderful Review: How I came to buy this book was, one day I was shopping at a bookstore, and my dad said that he would buy me a book. I looked through the shelves, and finally decided on a book called "The Witch of Blackbird Pond." (by the way, that is a very good book). I had already read this book, and when I took it to my dad to buy, and told him I had already read it, he said, "Why don't you get a book that you haven't read?" I was a little reluctant, but I put "The Witch of Blackbird Pond" back and then decided again on "Holes." I wasn't sure if I'd like it, but I got it anyway. When I started reading it, I found out it was two times better than "The Witch of Blackbird Pond!" I loved it and finished it in a day. It is a meaningful, humorous, highly interesting and adventurous book. Reccomended to anyone! It is an overall wonderful book. You will get your moneys worth, definently.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Pretty good, compelling read Review: I enjoyed this book, and found the characters and plot strong. The pacing towards the end was a little funny, and the story, while never particularly believeable, definitely stretches even its own reality towards the end. But a good book and a worthwhile read.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: One of the best books I've ever read! Review: Mesmerizing...you can't put it down until you finish! Can't wait for Louis Sachar to write more....this is his best yet (although I haven't read all his books...this is from judging other reviewers remarks).
