Summary: Stanley Yelnats rocks!
Review: Stanley Yelnats, a juvenile delinquent, is sent to camp called Camp Green Lake. Stanley Yelnats is a poor kid with a palendrome for a name! Stanley is Yelnats backwords and Yelnats is Stanley backwords! The book is a Newberry award winner and it deserves it! It is almost as good as Harry Potter, only it is half as long. From 1 to 999,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000, I would rate it 999,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000!

Summary: Average...fairly interesting.
Review: I was only vaguely impressed with this book. Louis Sacher, also the author of the hilairious but juvinile WaYsIdE sChOOl books, was my favorite author in 3rd grade (I am now in 8th) but I can't understand what drove him to write HOLES. Humor was Sacher's strength, and he sort of let that strength go in this book. Although it was well-written, I don't think it is that good a read for children or adults. Rather boring and typical.

Summary: "Honey, put that book down and eat your dinner"
Review: Holes is a one-of-a-kind tale. It's 2 stories that wind together in the end.The characters seem so real you can sometimes feel exactly how they feel. Stanley Yelnats- notice his last name is his first name backwards- is a boy forced to go live at a camp for boys who have done something bad like stolen something, whatever. The camp is run by mean counsulers and the kids have to dig huge holes each day. The other half is Stanley's family history- of bad luck because of some curse. It's an awesome adventure book about friendship that's immpossible to put down.

Summary: The best book i have ever read
Review: I read the book Holes with my class at school. We all loved the book. The story has some parts in it that can get you confused. Just keep going and it will make sence at the end. This book is not for any one under the age of 12. The book deals with issues that can disturbe little kids. I am only 12 years old and i can't believe what happens. My teacher says if you like the book the first time then you should read it again its even better.

Summary: A great book!
Review: I absolutely loved this book! Stanly Yelnots is sent to a juvenile delinquent camp for a crime he didn't commit. At this camp, they have a weird punishment. All day, the campers must dig holes. That is all they do. Stanley solves the mystery of why they do dig holes all the time, and finds out much more. Combining two stories in one, many secrets are revealed, and you will find youself going, " Oh, why didn't I realize that?" a lot while you read it! Fans of Louis Sachar and surprise endings will find this book terrific.

Summary: Wow!
Review: This book is full of suspense, drama, sadness, triumph, humour, happiness and friendship. For me it rates up there with Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling and The Tomorrow Series by John Marsden. This is a wonderful book and Louis Sachar shows likenesses of Dahl throughout. READ THIS BOOK!

Summary: 21st Century Book Club
Review: Our Book Club read "Holes" and we couldn't put the book down. We recommend this book as a great gift for all the up and coming holidays. Readers should be a least in 6th grade and above because of the various themes. The book was fun and entertaining. We took a liking to "Zero". His character was fascinating because he was actually smarter than everyone thought. The friendship between Stanley and Zero was interesting. This book has a surprising ending.

Summary: Gripping
Review: I initially wanted read Holes to see what all the fuss was about and to determine if I should buy it for some nieces and nephews for the holidays. Well, I read it in one sitting - just couldn't put it down.

The piece is very disturbing at first, demanding and bleak but realistic with a touch of the magic to come. The beginning can be a little hard to get through, almost depressing. But the rewards are ample and well worth the emotional journey.

Stanley Yelnats is an unlikely yet likeable protagonist who's evolution and growth is gradual and encouraging and totally believeable. I can imagine that many young adolescents will really relate to this "outsider". He gives us all hope. Yet for all Stanley's troubles and adventures, Sacher has given him a pair of loving and totally supportive parents. Yes, Stanley is the hero who comes to the rescue, but his parents are not fools and, in the end, do some growing of their own. How refreshing!

I'll not only give this book to various youngsters on my holiday list, but several adults will find it in their stockings as well.

Grab an onion, a canteen of fresh water, put your shovel down and enjoy!
